| Melles, Lord of Badgers04-25-04, 06:07 PM | hey, i was wondering if anyone had any dragon grafts or symbionts? i need some, so if you have any, please post them here. thanks in advance! *edit here is some ideas i had in mind Breath Weapon graft:D Dragon Leg (regular and oversized) (gives a overrun/crush ablility) (Whosh, jumps over a building in a single bound :D) skin graft (i'm a lizardman:angel:! Opps, no i'm not:eek:! i'm a dragonman:angel:!) wyvern-like smybiont *edit 2 Current Grafts Dragonflesh Grafts by ME! -Dragonflesh Tail (wyvern) -Dragonflesh claw (burrowing) Dragonflesh Grafts by Arhra -Dragonflesh Arm -Dragonflesh Arm, Oversized -Dragonflesh Wings -Dragonflesh Tail, (standard, swiming, and jumping) Dragon Grafts by Arhra Dragon clawed arm Dragon wings (*edit3, can someone tell me how to link to posts?) |
| Willie the Duck04-25-04, 06:21 PM | I don't think that you'll find any. Most grafts come from exceptionally weird creatures with special abilities (like illithid or aboleth tentacles, yuan ti snake tails or arms, demon fangs or claws etc. Frankly speeking, stapling a couple of dragon wings to your back is all to normal for the graft system. |
| Melles, Lord of Badgers04-25-04, 06:46 PM | What about dragon lungs? wouldn't that give the gafted person or thing a breath weapon acording to the dragon type? |
| Shifting Master04-25-04, 07:28 PM | :teach: According to the Draconomicon, a dragon gets its breath weapon not from its lungs, but from a specific organ in the the body called the draconus fundamentus. An organ such as this would be much harder to graft. |
| Melles, Lord of Badgers04-25-04, 07:36 PM | i don't have the Draconomicon, and i just thought that it's breath weapon came from something in the lung...i need that Draconomicon... |

| Primus, the One and Prime04-26-04, 07:07 PM | Dammit, Melles! Give a post two days between bumps. 17 minutes is far FAR too soon! Now noone wants to post because you keep bumping it! [[I am not a stat maker so I can't really help you with the original topic of the post]] |
| Melles, Lord of Badgers04-26-04, 07:22 PM | i just joined a while ago, and i don't know the ethics of the message boards yet...sorry:sad: |

| R.M.G.C.L.F.04-26-04, 07:31 PM | Move along now folks, just move along. |
| Melles, Lord of Badgers04-26-04, 07:32 PM | i was more hopeing at a dragon that bonds, but thouse are great symbionts, i saw them before and i've always liked thouse alot |
| R.M.G.C.L.F.04-26-04, 07:36 PM | *goes back and looks at thread title* Gaah! Crap, I should read more carefully before I post. Unfortunately, while have made a few symbionts, I have next to no knowledge of grafts, and it would be difficult for me to concieve of a symbiotic dragon. *yanks the off-topic links away* |
| Melles, Lord of Badgers04-26-04, 07:38 PM | we all make mistakes;) Maybe something that looks like a tiny wyvren? |
| Melles, Lord of Badgers04-26-04, 08:23 PM | am i that scary? |
| Arhra04-27-04, 07:37 AM | Mmmm.. I think I might work on a few. It'll take me a day or two though. |
| Melles, Lord of Badgers04-27-04, 12:44 PM | thanks bunches:D |
| Melles, Lord of Badgers04-27-04, 09:13 PM | :bump: i know someone posted a fire ball bump on the site, and i want to know the url so i can use it instead of this trouble maker... anyhow, i know it's off-topic, but can someone PM me the url? |
| Arhra04-28-04, 07:18 AM | You know, you really don't need to bump so much. Every few days is generally considered enough. I'll begin with my two main ideas for 'dragon grafts' as you seem quite frantic about them. Firstly you could have dragonflesh grafts. These would actually be parts of (now probably dead) dragons simply attached to the grafted creature. Needless to say this wouldn't endear you to the next dragon you saw. These would mostly be fairly basic - stuff like arms, wings and tails. Secondly you could have dragon grafts that are more like the beholder grafts - they aren't actually bits of dragons but instead are devised to make the grafted creature more like a dragon. These would probably have been devised by dragon worshipping cults or dragons looking to improve their minions. These could also be a bit more subtle then the dragonflesh grafts as you aren't just chopping bits off one creature and attaching them to another. I'll be putting up some actual grafts next |
| Melles, Lord of Badgers04-28-04, 04:12 PM | sorry i bump when ever the thread gets to low/off the first page These could also be a bit more subtle then the dragonflesh grafts as you aren't just chopping bits off one creature and attaching them to another. funny, i thought that grafts were magically create body parts simular to the body part... meh, i'll house rule it: the cost in the ff is if you did not come straight of the creature and magically created it. if you got it straight off the creature, it's a quater of the price |
| Melles, Lord of Badgers04-28-04, 10:14 PM | i don't think any can read this, it's too low again :bump: argg i want that fireball bump |
| Arhra04-29-04, 12:48 AM | Ah it looks like I'll have to step up to the next method of dissuasion - veiled threats. I find it displeasing that you continue with the extreme amount of bumps. Perhaps you would like to find out what a fireball bump is really like? Seriously though, I've made a start in the dragonflesh grafts. The first few ones are fairly obvious but I'll be adding a few more before getting started on my other graft idea. By the way, your fireball bump wouldn't happen to be :mage:, would it? Dragonflesh Grafts Dragonflesh grafts are actually be parts of (now probably dead) dragons attached to the grafted creature. Due to the nature in how such grafts were gained, the grafted creature has a -6 penalty on Diplomancy checks when dealing with dragons. Many dragons will attempt to destroy such a creature on sight. Dragonflesh claw A dragonflesh arm is actually the forelimb of a dragon, slightly altered to make the claw properly opposable and to attach properly to the grafted creature and as such it is scaly and quite powerful. The grafted creature gains a +4 bonus to Strength when using the arm for any purpose. The claw allows the creature to make a claw natural attack dealing 1d6 damage. Prerequisites: Graft Flesh, Bull's Strength, requires the forelimb of a dragon of the same size as the grafted creature. Market Price: 20000gp Dragonflesh claw, Oversized A dragonflesh arm is actually the forelimb of a dragon, altered to make the claw properly opposable and to attach properly to the grafted creature. The arm reaches almost all the way to the floor and is powerfully muscled. The grafted creature gains a +6 bonus to Strength when using the arm for any purpose but suffers a -2 penalty on attack rolls with that arm and on skill checks requiring the use of that arm. The claw allows the creature to make a claw natural attack dealing 1d8 damage. Prerequisites: Graft Flesh, Bull's Strength, requires the forelimb of a dragon one same size category larger than grafted creature. Market Price: 20000gp Wings A pair of wings torn from a dragon, these are attached to the characters back along with muscular and skeletal modifications made to the creature to anchor the wings properly. The grafted creature can fly at a speed equal to double its land speed with poor maneuverability. Due to the large wingspan (generally around double the creature's height) it may not be possible to fly in some conditions. Prerequisites: Graft Flesh, Fly, requires the wings of a dragon of the same size as the grafted creature. The wings must be from the same dragon. Market Price: 7000gp |
| Melles, Lord of Badgers04-29-04, 03:43 PM | thank you and the fireball bump looks like a smilely that looks on fire, then a fireball hits the bump button and the smile gets wider, like the reagular bump Prerequisites: Graft Flesh, Fly, requires the wings of a dragon of the same size as the grafted creature. The * wings must be from the same dragon. Market Price: 7000gp just saying, i would put the word "two" in the place i added an asurek (*) for clarifying for the people who might get confused later. oh and it seems cheap in comparison to the arms. Market Price: 20000gp The Market Price seems...unbalanced, i still think it could use a price up, the Oversized one. |
| Arhra04-30-04, 06:48 AM | Well the reasoning behind it is quite simple. The normal arm would give +2 to hit and to damage from the +4 strength bonus and the oversized one gives a +1 bonus to hit and +3 to damage in total. The oversized claw does slightly more damage but there's also the -2 penalty on skill checks requiring use of the arm. On the whole I'd say it balances out nicely. Now then, one more of those dragonflesh grafts. I'm a little uncertain about this one's market price so I might adjust it. Next I'll be working on my other type of dragon graft. Dragonflesh Tail Quite self explanitory in appearance, this graft gives the grafted creature a tail slap natural attack dealing 1d6 damage plus one and a half times their strength modifier (just strength modifier if used as a secondary attack). Prerequisites: Graft Flesh, Magic Fang, Magic Weapon or Greater Magic Weapon, requires the tail of a dragon of the same size as the grafted creature. Market Price: 8000gp |
| Melles, Lord of Badgers04-30-04, 05:10 PM | nice, but... it lacks something... all the other tails grant a swim speed or at least swim, balance, and tumble bounuses. cause other wise, it is WAY overpriced. also, it's missing the flavor that the other grafts had. try adding some more flavor text. *quick-oh-i-just-remebered-edit, top updated:D |
| Melles, Lord of Badgers04-30-04, 07:00 PM | USE your creative juices people, don't HOLD THEM BACK ! you are all awsome people that should be helping thouse who need some help! Arhra is not the only very creative one here, so why don't you people help us out? i'll add you people to my awsome list ! |
| Melles, Lord of Badgers05-01-04, 11:02 AM | obviously, no one who is cappable to help wants to help and be on my awsome list. (my awsome list contians curently Arthra, R.M.G.C.L.F., ieattrollsforbreckfast, TEW, some other people i can't think of at the moment, and anyone who helps on this borad) |
| Melles, Lord of Badgers05-01-04, 04:52 PM | :bump: sorry about the triple post |
| Arhra05-04-04, 07:17 AM | Hmmmm, you are right, it does need a little more than just a secondary attack. Here you are then, three types of tail. Someone tell me if I missed an appropriate type of dragon for the swimming and jumping types. Dragonflesh Tail, Standard The tail of a slain dragon, this graft gives the grafted creature a tail slap natural attack dealing 1d6 damage plus their strength modifier. It always counts as a secondary attack. The grafted creature also gains a +2 bonus on balance and jump checks. Prerequisites: Graft Flesh, Magic Fang, Magic Weapon or Greater Magic Weapon, requires the tail of a dragon of the same size as the grafted creature. Market Price: 8,000gp Dragonflesh Tail, Swimming The tail of a slain black, bronze, gold or white dragon carefully grafted to preserve the qualities which aided the dragon's swimming, this graft gives the grafted creature a tail slap natural attack dealing 1d6 damage plus their strength modifier. It always counts as a secondary attack. The grafted creature also gains a +2 bonus on balance and jump checks and a swim speed equal to their land speed. This does not grant the ability to breathe water. Prerequisites: Graft Flesh, Magic Fang, Magic Weapon or Greater Magic Weapon, requires the tail of a black, bronze, gold or white dragon of the same size as the grafted creature. Market Price: 12,000gp Dragonflesh Tail, Jumping The tail of a slain copper, gold, red or silver dragon, this graft gives the grafted creature a tail slap natural attack dealing 1d6 damage plus their strength modifier. It always counts as a secondary attack. The grafted creature also gains a +2 bonus on balance checks and a +6 bonus on jump checks. Prerequisites: Graft Flesh, Magic Fang, Magic Weapon or Greater Magic Weapon, requires the tail of a copper, gold, red or silver dragon of the same size as the grafted creature. Market Price: 9,000gp |
| Melles, Lord of Badgers05-04-04, 09:08 PM | That's awsome! now lets think of that wyvern tail...:D |
| Melles, Lord of Badgers05-05-04, 04:16 PM | Dragonflesh Tail, Wyvern The tail of a slain Wyvern, this graft gives the grafted creature a tail slap natural attack dealing 1d6 damage plus their strength modifier. It always counts as a secondary attack. The creature also gains a sting attack, dealing 1d6+4 damage + there strength modifier. The sting is venomous, as the wyvern's venom sac is also grafted. the posin is a Fort. save (DC 17+your Con modifier), dealing inital and secondary damage of 2d6 con damage. This attack also always counts as a secondary attack. The grafted creature also gains a +4 bonus on balance checks and a +4 bonus on jump checks. Prerequisites: Graft Flesh, Magic Fang, Greater Magic Weapon, requires the tail of a wyvern. Market Price: 70,000gp my first homebrew graft! YAY!:D |
| Melles, Lord of Badgers05-05-04, 10:16 PM | another tread of my crazy ideas (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?threadid=233916) |
| Melles, Lord of Badgers05-05-04, 10:33 PM | Dragonflesh claw, burrowing A dragonflesh arm is actually the forelimb of a blue or brass dragon, slightly altered to make the claw properly opposable and to attach properly to the grafted creature while keeping digging prowlness and as such it is scaly and quite powerful. The grafted creature gains a +4 bonus to Strength when using the arm for any purpose. The claw allows the creature to make a claw natural attack dealing 1d6 damage. i also give the grafted creature a dig speed equal to their land speed Prerequisites: Graft Flesh, Bull's Strength, requires the forelimb of a blue or bronze dragon of the same size as the grafted creature. Market Price: (help?) |
| Melles, Lord of Badgers05-06-04, 04:46 PM | market price helping please? |
| Melles, Lord of Badgers05-11-04, 08:29 AM | :bump: |
| Melles, Lord of Badgers05-12-04, 02:53 PM | nothing new yet? thats depressing...:( *bumps sadly without smiley* |
| Melles, Lord of Badgers05-24-04, 09:36 PM | good lord this needs a big ol' :bump: this thread needs continuation peps! |
| Arhra05-26-04, 07:31 AM | Hmm, this thread's still going eh? I suppose I'll add in my dragon grafts (as opposed to dragonflesh grafts). By way of advice I think the sting tail in the fiend folio costs 50,000gp so use that as a guide for the wyvern tail. Burrowing is a bit harder to judge. Dragon grafts: Dragon grafts are special alterations made to creatures to make them more like dragons. They are believed to have been first created by dragons or dragon worshipping cults. All dragon grafts are of the same colour (eg blue) and if a dragon crafted them can only create grafts of their colour. Depending on colour the grafts also grant an energy resistance depending on type. This resistance is cumulative (eg two red dragon claw grafts would grant fire resistance 2) and each graft describes how much of an energy resistance it gives. Red, Gold, Brass: Fire Blue, Bronze: Electricity Silver, White: Cold Copper, Black, Green: Acid Clawed arm, dragon A dragon claw arm is scaly and muscular. Typically a dragon claw arm is created by applying special unguents and substances to the grafted creatures arm rather than the more hack and slash method used for dragonflesh grafts. The grafted creature gains a +4 bonus to Strength when using the arm for any purpose. The claw allows the creature to make a claw natural attack dealing 1d4 damage. This graft also grants energy resistance 1. Prerequisites: Bull's Strength, Endure Elements or must be a dragon with a caster level of at least 9. Market Price: 20000gp Dragon Wings A pair of wings like those of a dragon, these grafts are first implanted into the characters back as small 'buds' and grow into full wings over the next week. They also alter the creature's physiology - deepening the breastbone and increasing the strength of the pectoral muscles to allow the creature to fly. The grafted creature can fly at a speed equal to double its land speed with poor maneuverability. Due to the large wingspan (generally around double the creature's height) it may not be possible to fly in some conditions. Prerequisites: Endure elements, Fly or must be a dragon with a caster level of at least 9. Market Price: 7000gp |
| Melles, Lord of Badgers05-26-04, 04:51 PM | sweheheheat! (thats pronounced swee-he-heat) thanks. bye the bye, i edit the top for the ideas i'm kinda sorta looking for, si if anyone wants to jump in and make some of those ideas at the top, it would greatly appresated (crap i can't spell!)! |
| Melles, Lord of Badgers05-27-04, 11:09 PM | umm...i'd like some more of the regualr dragon varitity, and until my ideas at the top are gone, this thread will live! |
| VigorMortis05-28-04, 07:24 PM | Awesome stuff! I like very much. I don't have anything to contribute at the moment, but I like the ideas, especially the tiny dragon symbiont. A funky game I once played allowed you to attach, in fact, a tiny dragon symbiont, but the effects are kinda weird to include in DND.. hrm. |
| The_other05-28-04, 07:25 PM | Drangon eye magicly altered to fit in the apllicants head. These eyes help the blind or poor sighted to see better, or the occasional greedy and cruel person to increase their eyes potential. Gives supierer low-light vison and darkvision 120ft. preq: graft flesh, ows wisdom, two dragon eyes from the grafted creature |
| Melles, Lord of Badgers05-28-04, 11:47 PM | ows wisdom what does that mean? otherwise good, but needs market pricing. |
| Melles, Lord of Badgers05-28-04, 11:48 PM | Awesome stuff! thanksA funky game I once played allowed you to attach, in fact, a tiny dragon symbiont, but the effects are kinda weird to include in DND.. hrm. could you discribe it? |
| The_other05-29-04, 12:29 AM | owl wisdom is a spell that increases wisdom and i thought that would be a good preq cause spot checks use wisdom so dragon EYES would too |
| Melles, Lord of Badgers05-29-04, 09:37 AM | oh, that explains it, i think i have that spell somewhere, what book is it in? |
| Melles, Lord of Badgers05-31-04, 07:16 AM | a few dragon symbionts should be posted here and on this thread (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?postid=3569140#newpost) |
| Melles, Lord of Badgers05-31-04, 11:58 PM | cannot...let...die! |

| Melles, Lord of Badgers06-17-04, 02:42 PM | i have fallen of of the edge of the world and came back for this reson::bump: |
| Demonfey10-11-04, 08:50 PM | Dragon skin It adds + 10 to natural armor, and gives energy resistance of the correct type (red=fire, etc.) of 10. 200,000 gp. Barkskin and energy resistance spells needed. Dragon breath gland: You install a dragon's breath gland into your neck, which secretes a substance in your mouth and throat to keep it from hurting you. It is usable 3 times per day, and does damage equal to that of a half dragon's. Time between uses must be 2d4 rounds. 20,000 gp. Feel better? |
