out of curiosity and possibly my next dungeon boss:
my first question is in the titel, maybe a halfdragon with 10 free dragon disiple levels.
My second question is: is it possible for a half-dragon dragon?I mean like a half copper silver or something. I was wondering because I thought that a silver dragon with acid breath would really confuse players , wouldnt it?

Reread the Dragon Disciple entry, anything of the Dragon Type cannot be a Dragon Disciple.

Not to mention that under half-dragon, dragon isn't one of the allowed subtypes. Jebus man, read the rules before orgasming over power races. Powergamer...

What do you mean? Under the Half-Dragon template description it states "Half-dragon is an inherited template that can be added to any living, corporeal creature..." My understanding is that, any undead or incorporeal creature can't be the base creature, definitely does not specifically disallow dragons.

Look folks, it's not a matter of game statistics, it's a matter of genetics. If a half dragon and a dragon mate, some offspring will be half dragon-half whatever the other grandperent was, and others will be full dragons (with just a trace of whatever it was).

You cannot apply the same template multiple times.

Human + Dragon = 100% Half-Dragons
Half-Dragon + Dragon = 50% Half-Dragons + 50% Dragons
Half-Dargon + Human = 50% Half Dragon + 50% Human
Half-Dragon + Half-Dragon = 25% Human + 50% Half-Dragon + 25% Dragon

P.S. Everyone gets a scorcerous casting ability.

Genetics are a bit off mate, Two Half Dragons equals a Half Dragon

To answer the second part of the original question: Yes, you can add the half-dragon template to a dragon (at least in 3.5); how you explain this unusual creature coming to exist is your own problem.

For the first part of the original question, you could use the Draconic creature template from the Draconomicon if you really need something specific to describe the offspring of a half-dragon and dragon, but it probably won't be worth it.

Dude, that is like a Half-Human Human, I'm not even gonna think how you make those...

Try to get one of them Hybrid templates, there should be a good one in the monster archive.

I dont believe most of the people who have posed replys to this thread completely understand what the original authors intent was.

Basically heres how it boils down:

Say a Blue Dragon and a Green Dragon mate(note NOT a half-dragon and a dragon). What would be the outcome, would you get a new variety of dragon with similar abilities of both types of dragons. I believe the author is asking if you can apply the Half-Dragon Template to another dragon to get a half-breed between dragons.........using the example above say the Blue and Green Dragons mate, would it be possable to have a Half-Green/Half-Blue Dragon, accomplishing this by taking the original dragons(either blue or green) and adding the Half-Dragon Template of the other parent(either blue or green). Saying so I would say yes this is possable, although I would have no clue how to adjust the CR of this monster. Anyone remember the Brown Dragons? They were supposed to be originally a half-breed of two other varieties of dragons(cant remember off hand which one).

Oh and about the Half-Human Human thing, that is completely possable. If someone of Nubian decent and Caucasian decent were to have a child you would have a Half-Human Human. The newborn would still be a human, but he would be composed of two different races of humans, which is exactly the same thing the author is trying to accomplish with the Dragons.

A white dragon and a red dragon mating? Ouch!

Yes, you can feasibly add the half-dragon template to an existing dragon. My favorite is the half-red, gold dragon who doesn't know which calling to listen to (mostly because the DM asked me to play one for that 2ed campaign called Council of Wyrms or something similar).

In 3ed, it gets a bit odd as the half-dragon template makes the existing dragon stronger than equivalent aged dragons, which I guess could be explained by the merging of draconic blood gives you a powerful dragon-champian.

If you search the forums, someone came up with an awsome half-dragon dragon template that works pretty well for fixing the above issue.

Mathematically, you have 3/2 Dragon and 1/2 Human

So, that's (In one person):

100% Dragon [2 in 4 chance]
50% Dragon & 50% Human [2 in 4 chance]

So that's a 50% chance for either combination

Mathematically, you have 3/2 Dragon and 1/2 Human

So are you telling me that if a chinese person and an indian person mate, the offspring will be 100% chinese, 100% indian? You divide by two.
Back to the post...
RAW, a normal dragon with the half dragon template would work. You get a normal dragon of the base color, with some special abilities from the template.
Such a creature would be 50% of the full dragon's race, 25% of the halfdragon fathers race, and 25% of the halfdragons mothers race.

Which reminds us that, considering its parents, any pink dragon will almost certainly be evil.

Pink is the new black. :)

I remember that thread, Wyrd Bearer, and reading through it again we had quite an interesting discussion.

Here's the link to my hybrid dragon template (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=6848820&postcount=22). I'm actually thinking of adding variants as regards immunities and breath weapons.

And yes, the half-dragon template can be applied to lesser dragons with no problem. There's a half-brass dragon/half-wyvern in the half-dragon web enhancement (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/we/20031128a) for the Draconomicon.
