| Commander of Chaos03-30-04, 07:13 PM | i am currently playing a paladin that is focusing on silver dragons for a sort of diety. he went kensai as soon as he could to make it more official i was thinking that it would be cool to have a class specifically for paladins that want to use dragons as their totem. it would work for any dragon so there could be anywhere from chaotic evil to lawful good paladines. I was thinking that it would go somewhat like this... Full BAB HD=D10 Skill Points=4 per level Skills= Concentration, craft, bluff, diplomacy, handle animal, heal, intimidate, knowledge arcana, knowledge religion, listen, ride, spellcraft, spot.+knowledge dragon( +1 attack and saves against dragons per 2 ranks and +1 damage per 5 ranks) level1= aura of (insert good or evil depending), detect evil or good level2= Dragonic grace, like divine grace, less arcane spell failure 5% level 3= aura of courage, divine health, level4= turn demons, like undead only demons, less arcane spell failure +5% level5=breath weapon, 1per day, 2d6 damage level6= polymorph into dragon, own size, 1 per day lessen arcane spell failure +5% level 7= breath weapon +1 per day level8= less arcane spell failure +5% level9= polymorph +1 per day level 10= breath weapon 3d6, +1 per day, less arcane spell failure +5% level 11= none Level 12= gain cohort, draconial(the half lion half dragon thing) it is the color of the totem dragon, less arcane spell failure +5% level 13= breath weapon +1 per day level 14= less arcane spell failure +5 % level 15= breath weapon + 1 per dasy, 4d6, polymorph +1 per day level 16=less arcene spell failure +5% level17= breath weapon +1 per day Level18= polymorph +1 per day, +1 size, less arcane spell failure +5% level19= none level20= polymorph +1 per day, breath weapon +1 per day, 5d6 less arcane spell failure +5% bonus language of draconic spells as bard weapon= all simple and martial armor= all + all shields |
| obrysii03-31-04, 08:40 PM | It seems over powered in my opinion. |
| Malakiel03-31-04, 08:47 PM | i agree... its over powered. i think your idea could work better as a PrC. that could make the BreathWeapon and the rest of the draconic abilities more balanced into the game. |
| masterofmayhem04-01-04, 07:18 PM | :OMG! Yeah, I'm gonna agree with that. Commander of Chaos, you're such a min/maxing, munchkining, metagaming person who cannot spell. No offense though ;) Also, you do realize that paladins (not paladines, thats a god from Dragonlance) are divine casters? They don't need to worry about arcane spell failure . . . Oh, nevermind . . . you gave them bard spells . . . Wow. they get 50% arcane spell failure . . . thats . . . slightly overpowered . . . Spells, no spell failure, good weapon proficiencies, good HP, good base attack bonus, a breathweapon, a kick butt mount . . . Wow sounds like a buff mage on steroids. Other than the aforementioned munchkiningness, the class is pretty good, if you ignore the fact that the Dragon Disciple does the same thing, only better . . . BTW, anyone that is reading this who thinks I'm very mean for saying these things to this poor guy, well, I am, but he's my friend anyway, and I have to put up with his stupid paladin in a campaign . . . |
| Commander of Chaos04-01-04, 08:34 PM | i like the idea of it being a PrC but i really wanted it to be a thing so that there could be evil paladins. The idea that people have to crusade for good if their crusading at all. Mabey i could tone back the less arcane spell failure to 25% and scale back teh weapon and polymorph. What do you think. |

What do you think. You can have evil paladins. The rules are in Unearthed Arcana. Basically take standard Paladin, change alignment to LE (Paladin of Tyranny) or CE (Paladin of Slaughter) and reverse all abilities - ie. Smite Evil becomes Smite Good, Turning Undead becomes Rebuking Undead, instead of healing they harm etc and their spell lists are geared towards doing harm rather than aiding people. The rules in UA are more exact than that but you can get the general idea. |

| BalancedOne04-02-04, 09:58 AM | Look for the Dragon Samuri in the mini. handbook. your class is way overpowered, and I play Gesalt Campaigns |
