| NeoIceshroom02-11-06, 11:29 AM | I want to apologise in advance if this has been asked before, but here goes. I am planning the start of a pretty big power-gaming campaign at a local convention here in Memphis, TN (www.midsouthcon.org for those of you who want some info) and one of my PCs needs to be a silver dragon for purposes of story and for the extra support. All of my other PCs are playing gestalts at 10th level so... yeah this is gonna be an interesting campaign to say the least. My problem is that the Dragonomicon only offers tables for dragon PCs up to 20th ECL. This is a problem for me big time because I plan on having all of my PCs reach epic by the end of this campaign, level 40 or 50 or so. As a DM, I'm going to have my dragon PC advance in age category by magical means (potions of aging, traveling to planes where time flows differently, ect.) But, only as rare rewards to certian adventures to keep her from aging too much too fast. I am thus far unable to find any distinct relationship between the dragons CR and LA. I need to get some way of calculating what the appropriate LA is for each age category, all the way up to Great Wyrm and Beyond. I also need a way of figuring out at which levels the Dragon PC will need to gain a dragon level without actually gaining any of the benifits of a new HD.( for those of you who don't know what I mean but still think you can help, see the Dragonomicon.) Any information as to how this can be done or if it's even possible would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

| NeoIceshroom02-12-06, 12:10 PM | The EP HB wasn't any help to me because I don't see any patterns as to how exactly the Dragon can advance through levels. For example it tells me an ancient silver dragon is 30 ECL, but it's CR is 22. I understand that CR and ECL are different, but what I need to know exactly what each age category of a silver dragons LA is. I don't understand the relationship between CR and ECL.For example, Is there any direct pattern that I could use to interpret what a mature adult silver dragons LA would be in relation to it's CR? There may be something I don't understand, I don't deal with monster PCs very often... I need some help as to how to interpret what I am looking at on the Epic Leadership ƒeat desciption/table. This Dragon is not a co-hort, it is it's own PC, not an NPC. I just need someone to explain to me how or if this is even possible. |

A silver dragon's age category increases by one with every three Hit Dice and their level adjustment increases by one with every two age categories, I believe. Try going from young and increasing, then compare it with the listing for an epic silver dragon cohort and see if the numbers match up. I've done this before, so I'm fairly confident that it should work. |
