| shadow_brian2203-27-06, 04:46 PM | what would happen if 2 different colored dragons mated? would a red and blue make a purple? and wut kind of breath would the use? |
| Morwen03-27-06, 10:00 PM | I can see two possibilities: - Either it becomes the mother's type - Or it becomes a, for instance, Half-Red Blue Dragon (where a Blue Dragon was the mother, and a Red Dragon the father) by using the Half-Dragon template. I'd go for option 2, myself :) |
| shadow_brian2203-27-06, 10:04 PM | ya but using 2 half dragons together would be a weaker dragon altogether. maybe even weaker than a white dragon. i would think that it would get the better stat increasments, all breath attacks, the better AC, and so on. wouldnt it pretty much be like a gesult character? (from the Unearthed Arcana) it makes sense to me. |
| Morwen03-27-06, 10:10 PM | I don't see how it could possibly be weaker.. For instance, my proposed Half-Red Blue Dragon would have the following changes compared to a regular Blue Dragon: Natural Armor +4 Additional breath weapon (cone of fire, 6d8) Additional immunity to fire Ability score increases: STR +8, CON +2, INT +2, CHA +2. For a CR increase of +2, this seems fairly decent (you could even consider the changes small enough for a +1 increase, since many of the benefits of the Half-Dragon template don't apply to a creature that is already a Dragon). |
| runestar03-27-06, 11:12 PM | According to races of dragon, the half-dragon template may not be applied to other dragons. ;) |
| RavinRay03-28-06, 02:43 PM | A fairly popular thread that pops-up from time to time; my suggested template for a cross-breed true dragon is at this post (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=6848820). |
| Rnd03-29-06, 09:20 AM | - Or it becomes a, for instance, Half-Red Blue Dragon (where a Blue Dragon was the mother, and a Red Dragon the father) by using the Half-Dragon template. This is official version from "Savage Species". |
| kdyal03-29-06, 02:35 PM | I actually apply the half-dragon template to the stronger of the two dragons - hybrid vigor. The reason that purple and electrum dragons do not rule the world is that 90% of the eggs from such a mating are dead. This is why deliberate coupling between dragon species is so rare. Can you imagine the emotional impact on any creature at stillbirth after stillbirth? |
| runestar03-29-06, 10:30 PM | Will be interesting to see what happens if the dragon queen(gold dragon) and her consort(silver dragon) end up mating... :D If wotc ever gets there... :P |
| RavinRay03-30-06, 04:19 AM | This is official version from "Savage Species". Yes, back in the 3.0 days. As RotD is newer and 3.5, it should ideally supplant that older rule. |
