I'm just wondering, is it possible to have a character that is both a dragon rider and a dragon slayer? I don't know since dragon riders seem to befriend and ride dragons while dragon slayers....yeah, kinda speaks for itself. Would a dragon slayer even think of befriending a dragon for a companion or familiar?

Would be kinda funny to see someone riding a dragon, then backstab it, heh.

Dragons slayers and dragons of the same alignment could more than work together. Typically Dragon Slayers that are of a good alignment slay chaotic dragons and vice versa. I say as I would do it in my campaign, if the player slays on a certain type of dragon either chromatic or metallic, then dragons of the other type would more than likely work with them in this endeavor.

A noble character working with a young silver dragon to fight a chromatic dragon that is terrorizing a village, makes sense to me.

Hah, more like you're the Dragons familiar.

I don't know... I don' think the dragonslayer would ever be fully trusted, even by dragons of his own alignment.

What if his pathological hatred of dragons extends itself to *all* dragons? Do you really want to form a lifelong magical bond (dragon rider) to a person who might kill you while you slept?

yes one would agree that that is normally the case, but a person could have sworn themselves to destoying the evil dragons of the land, or if one is already a dragon rider and you are in a high dragon campaign then it would make sense to be a dragonslayer if you are a dragon rider. Just because one is a slayer does not mean that they cannot be judged by dragons of the same alignment. Think about it like that, if the dragon knows a player slays only chromatics and has the ability to detect the creatures alignment and the dragon is a metallic, of course if could trust him. Now if he hates all dragons then I would say no unless he captured the dragon and made it his slave.

There are better PRCs for evil dragon hunting than the generic dragonslayer.

But if you don't use them this combo could happen. But it would require much trust from the dragon to form a bond with a dragonslayer.

Better PRCs for hunting evil dragons? The only other one I can think of is the Platinum Knight, and that would be specifically for evil dragons. Hey... if you know any others, feel free to share.

BTW, how many classes can I multiclass my character with?

There is also the Vasall of Bahamut and of course a Ranger/Foe Hunter can also be a superb dragon slayer.

And in Dragon 296 there are also some Dragon Hunter PRCs.

You can take as many classes as you want. Theoretically you can have 20 different classes at lvl 20. But limiting yourself to 2 normal and 1-2 PRCs is mostly the better way.
