A friend of mine plans on selling the hide of a blue dragon we've just slain in a campaign. Now, what would be the estimated value of the hide of said medium-sized dragon? I'm talking about the entire hide, from tail to head. Any ideas about this? Or are there rules available? (if so, could you mention the page(s)/book(s) you've found this info?)

i believe there are rules for the selling prices for various sections of dragons in the draconomicon.

Is he just skinning it or planning to sell the rest of its body as well?

I am entertaining the thought of a halfling or something dragging an adult dragon corpse by the tail across the countryside and have the guards of the keep on the walls spotting this sight coming up the dirt road. :P

this has happened before in games I've played in. And odly enough always done by halfings. Go figure.

Just skinning, for as far as I know

I'd imagine it would have to do with how damaged the hide is. If the character doesn't have survival or Craft/Profession(Butchery) I'd imagine that it would not be all that much, but he could concievably get some money for each individual scale. I'd say probably around 100gp per square foot of Hide, modified depending on how common dragons are in ur campaign. Also remember, other dragons don't like seeing dead dragon parts in the hands of primitive lesser species, so you may actually have to sell it in a black market.

Tanner would be more useful than butchery, for working with the skinning and preserving of the hide

Reminds me of a young red dragon our party killed once. I beheaded the damnable critter, and had it stuffed and mounted. Sold it to the local tavern for 100gp.

Then the critters momma came hunting after us, and we were paid another 100 gp to take it back (I was a NE Merc, loved every moment of being a complete jerk). I then proceeded to sell it to a bar the next town over for another 100 gp.
