02-13-05, 06:38 PM What is the difference between a Drake, a Whelp, and a Dragon?

Like from Magic: The Gathering? Do Drake's exist as enemies? Do Whelps? I know dragons do. Chromatic colors are cooler, but alas, they are evil =(. I wish it was the reverse....

02-13-05, 08:22 PM If you're the DM, the dragons don't have to be set to those alignments.

Or play in Eberron, where dragons aren't set to those alignments.

Whelp = Young drageon
Dragon = Dragon (duh)

Note that Whelp is a MtG term and hasn't appeared yet in D&D.

02-14-05, 07:09 PM Drake = a dragon that doesn't that become more powerful as it ages. Usually they are also less intelligent and do not possess as many supernatrual abilities as a true dragon.

Whelp = wyrmling, a new born dragon.

Dragon = this is a generic term for a group of creatures that have been refered to as supernatural reptiles. True Dragons (metallic and chromatic), psuedodragons, wyverns, and dragon turtles are all different types of dragons.
