DebiHuman 12-27-07, 11:18 PM	In 2nd Ed, the Dragonne was a cross between a lion and a brass dragon but I think that in 3e its become its own breed. I checked the SRD http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/dragonne.htm but it only lists it as a magical beast rather than as a half-dragon lion or as a half-lion dragon. In this game you can pretty much cross-breed any two creatures or more if you are really wanting to mix-up the genetics of monsters. In this case since all androsphinxes are male you'd be cross breeding it with a female manticore. A half-androsphinx would likewise be always male. I think the author erred in this regard especially because the half-gynosphinx is always female. Welcome to Fantasy Biology 101. A gynosphinx can mate with any male sphinx and could probably mate with a male manticore but since they tend to be pickier about mates (at least in concept) that would be a rare thing indeed. All-in-all, mixing manticore and either androsphinx or gynosphinx would result in similar offspring. The females would all be half-manticore gynosphinxes (or half-gynosphinx manticores) and the males would be half-manticore androsphinxes (or half-androsphinx manticores). Whew. Now I need a nap. Debby
