Recently in our campaign, my DM has been using dragons with MM1 and MM4 (for spawn) as well as the Draconomicon. But he and I noticed that only the Bronze, Silver, and Gold dragons have the alternate form feature, the others do not. I could have sworn I saw in the 'nomicon that there was a sample black dragon that changed form to run a thieves guild, but no other Metallic or Chromatic has that feature. Is this just a mix up and all the true dragons can do it? Is there an errata? Or do they have to cast the spell to get all pelvis-y to make half dragons?
I figure house-rule it that they all can. Thoughts?

It is possible that they learnt the polymorph spell, or had some magic item which allowed them to change forms.:)

Metallic dragons have it easier, but this does not mean that it is otherwise impossible for the chromatics.
