Dragons and Cleric spells [Archive] - Wizards Community

05-04-05, 06:49 PM Several kinds of dragons get access to Cleric spells and/or domains, and I was wondering how that works with their spells known.

Can a young adult red dragon cast any 1st or 2nd lv cleric spell, or do they have to choose individual cleric spells as spells known? Young Adult Red Dragons are caster level 5, to save you all the trouble of looking it up.

05-04-05, 06:57 PM I'd say they must take them as spells known, but that might or might not be RAW.

05-05-05, 01:39 AM the monster manual (3rd edition) said "the gold dragon may also cast spells from the cleric, law, luck, and good domains as arcane spells"

now the way I read that, that means that the gold dragon has access (for sorc spells) to:
all sorc arcane spells
all cleric spells
all law domain spells
all luck domain spells
all good domain spells

but they are still sorc spells so the dragon has to spend known spell slots for each spell on the list, they just have a broader selection to choose from.

05-05-05, 10:36 AM they still have to choose spells that they'll know the rest of their lives (just like regular sorcerors) ... they just have some more options.
