Can dragons use weapons? Such as maces, swords etc?

In dragon-form, I think not. Unless they animate weapons, I guess.
There's polymorph, too. But why would you do that if you've got a breath-weapon?

Well. They can cast spells without special feats (surrogate spellcasting) so they could potentially use weapons. They can also use wands, staffs, and rods without problem in their hands...and they're weapon-like.

If that doesn't work, they can get Grasping weapons or a pair of Gloves of Man.

But I think most dragons would rather just use their claws.

According to the Draconomicon, a dragon cannot use a weapon with its claws, nor can it use staffs and rods that are used as weapons (rod of lordly might, etc.).

Even if a dragon assumes a form that can use the weapons, a dragon is nonproficient.

I'd say a dragon could have weapons specifically made for him or herself.

A dragon who can alter self is proficient with simple weapons.

And a dragon can use custom made weapons like Claws of the Ripper, but they, other than normal weapons, only increase the damage of their natural attacks.

Forget weapons, equipment or treasure. Give it VOP and see your (evil)party weep.

Why do you want a weapon-wielding dragon ? A true dragon can dish out a whole lot of damage only with its natural weapons, in addition of its breath weapon and spells.

Probably likes the idea of a Dragon with Wield Oversized Weapon holding a Colossal + greatsword (or better, Mercurial Greatsword) while using the multi-arm spell, thereby getting strength x 2.5. At 51 Str (47 from Great Wyrm Gold Dragon + Bull's Strength), that would deal 10d6+50 damage.

So they're have in a single attack round, when hovering, using standard Hover rules or the Fly spell:

Mercurial Greatsword +61/+56/+51/+46, Bite +61, 2 Wings +56, 2 Claws +56, Tail Slap +56

Assuming all hit, 40d6+200+6d8+30+12d6+35 or an average of 474 damage.

This assumes a Great Gold Wyrm with Bull's Strength and that Multi-Arm spell cast upon itself while using a Skillful Grasping Mercurial Greatsword.

My calculations might be off. It's awefully hard to do such things off the top of your head ;)

Or maybe likes the idea of a 1500 year old dragon doing whatever the heck it wants, like wielding a colossal + mercurial greatsword.

Give him like a +300 and give him every beneficial enchantment for it
