Been leafing through it and going, "neat." ever since. It'll definitely impact Walking with Dragons (Fret not, I know enough to phrase everythig in my own words. To be original.) However, I have shown the book to a friend of mine. He said "interesting" a lot, with the occasional, "I didn't know that." and a rare, "Where did they get that from?" However, it was when he snarled, "Preposterous!" and took the mantling stance dragons and raptors are known to take when protecting prey that I knew he was going to have something to say. So I now turn this over to one Aeros Aristophanes. ***** Thank you Mr. Kellogg. My name is Aeros Aristophanes. I am an... ...expert on dragons. A better expert on dragons than Mr. Collins and friends. I speak now on the subject of dragon eyes. The misapprehension that dragon eyes have two pupils, lenses, etc. can only come from the work of one Dary Argax MA. A self styled dragon expert and author of, Dragons as They Are. A tome, I hasten to assure my audience, that has been the source of more disinformation and misinformation on dragons than any other work ever produced. Mr. Argax goes so far as to provide an altered photograph of a dragon's eye purporting to show the double lens et al. However, work with the original version, and with the negative, has shown conclusively that the dragon in question had been wearing contacts at the time of her death. (Dragons, I must note, are farsighted by and large, requiring some sort of visual aid for close up work. Some have reading glasses, others use spells, and vain dragons wear contacts.) Mr. Argax deliberately altered a series of autopsy photos (gained illegally I should add) in order to support his theory that dragons, each and every one of them, is an example of incomplete twinning. Thus the wings, according to Mr. Argax. This 'theory' ignoring genetic work going back some some 20 years that shows that dragon wings were originally the result of the genes for the shoulder girdle and the associated arms being expressed a second time in the early years of draconic evolution. Thus no need for a mythical 'subsumed' twin. There you have it, dragons have one cornea, one lens per eye. As for Mr. Argax's degree. Dary Argax has a Master of Arts in the field of Bio-Psycho-Arcano-Thaumaturgy. A field of magic 'invented' by one Barry Dwight, a charlatan and con-man with a long list of convictions. His 'school' is well described as a "stinking pile of excrement as produced by a tasmanian devil after an encounter with an angry skunk." Until Mr. Dwight's website was shut down it was possible to get an MA in the 'school' for $129.95 plus an essay on "How Bio-Psycho-Arcano-Thaumaturgy Helped Me Win the Betty Crocker Bake-off." (I do have a $2.00 judgement against Dary Argax, but being a kind-hearted soul I have decided to not take his only pair of clean socks from him. Besides, even if I did take his socks he'd still owe me a $1.95.) ***** Thank you, Mr. Aristophanes. There you have the truth about dragon eyes.

catharz 12-09-03, 08:09 PM	You know, some might say that in many cases, the similarities between various "dragons" are simply the result of convergent evolution (controlled in part by their supernatural natures). In fact, the difference in life cycles between the "Lung" (or "Long," meaning "Dragon") dragons and the "Chromatic" and "Metallic" dragons indicate at least two orders.
