| Vaalingrade Ashland08-27-03, 11:26 PM | Of course comments, fixes and such are always welcome :) |
| Talen Lee09-09-03, 12:23 AM | Here's a starting comment; I have a 6th level character who could, quite adequately, beat up your ostensibly CR 25 dragon. 1d8 damage without strength bonus? An AC of _22_? A Wizard of 25th level has a total BAB of +12 - it hits a 22 on a roll of ten. What exactly is the point here - are the dragons in the MM not acceptable, or too hard? |
| Vaalingrade Ashland09-09-03, 12:38 AM | CR 25 comes from the sample monster I cut and pasted this from. I didn't know what the CR should be so I figured It would be corrected as we went along (than again, I left this thread for dead weeks ago) My aim in creating them was that I was not happy with DnD dragons (too dumb, powers I didn't like and Stereotypes abounding) I now notice I forgot DR, Charm/Dominate Immunity anf Fast healing when I wrote this. Let me know what you think the Cr should be after I add those (I was aiming for 10 because they really are supposed to be advanced as characters. |
| Talen Lee09-09-03, 01:09 AM | Kindly define 'dumb'. |
| Vaalingrade Ashland09-09-03, 01:38 AM | animalistic would be a better word. Traditional dragons seem to just be big lizards who collect shinys and eat heroes. |
| Talen Lee09-09-03, 01:41 AM | And is this what you feel is a bad thing, or is it a good thing? In the Monster Manual at least, the dragons appear to be very clever creatures indeed. |
| Vaalingrade Ashland09-09-03, 01:49 AM | Bad thing. But a lot of the Ere dragon things stem from moving away from alignment stereotypes, which ment a lot of the 'flavor powers' had to go. I also dropped a lot of the metallics, dragon fear and the spell caster levels |
| Talen Lee09-11-03, 01:43 AM | And in the process, have very much made them weaker creatures. The problem here is that you have a Fireball Goblin. A Goblin that has 1 hit point, stats of 1 in all but int, which is 3, but an initiative modifier that means 50% of the time, it will move first in the initiative. It can also drop a 20d6 fireball to which it is immune, at ground zero, at will. Now, what challenge rating is this? |
| Vaalingrade Ashland09-11-03, 01:49 AM | Well what should I add? Its one thing to tell me it shouldn't be CR X, but another not to tell me either how to get to CR X or telling me that it is CR Z. Come on Talen, you're the only one to respond and apperently, you know your stuff. Lend a hand, please. |
