| Omarfr07-13-05, 08:29 AM | What is the order from dragons weakest to strongest |
| obrysii07-13-05, 10:03 AM | If that's suppose to be a question, you ought to put a question mark at the end of the sentence instead of turning it into a demand. Assuming you meant in terms of realitive power; From weakest to strongest: White-->Brass-->Black-->Copper-->Green-->Blue-->Bronze-->Red-->Silver-->Gold This is in my opinion, of course. CR-wise, it's something like this: White-->Black-->Brass-->Green-->Copper/Blue/Bronze-->Red/Silver-->Gold |
| RavinRay07-14-05, 08:54 AM | I never did quantitatively rank the dragons before, but in general terms, the metallic dragon is slightly more powerful than its chromatic counterpart of equivalent rank. Ergo, White < Brass < Copper < Black < Green < Bronze < Blue < Silver < Red < Gold Now throw in the gem dragons, and the picture gets muddied up. I don't know where exactly to place each species. First of all, they changed the rank (as I perceived it) from 2e to 3e. It was Crystal < Topaz < Emerald < Sapphire < Amethyst to, apparently, Crystal < Sapphire < Emerald < Amethyst < Topaz which is not reflected whatsoever on the real-world market value of their namesake gemstones. It should be Crystal < Topaz < Amethyst < Sapphire < Emerald where you assume crystal is quartz. At least the metallic rank is realistic. If you're a stickler for accuracy, this would be a sore spot, but since this is fantasy after all, I overlook it. :smirk: That aside, however, I do wonder why the sapphire dragon, while having the same HD advancement, as the crystal dragon, yet trails it in size and breath weapon damage, has a +1 lead in CR beyond wyrmling age? Is it due to the cumulative psi-like abilities and the earlier acquisition of psion manifesting abilities? |
| kuromeru07-14-05, 11:28 AM | Which monster manuel is the crystal dragoins in??? |
| RavinRay07-14-05, 04:45 PM | The gem dragons are in Monster Manual 2, which is a 3.0 book but has a 3.5 update available as a PDF. They use psionics, but in the MM2 this is not yet in accordance with 3.5 psionics. A little plug here, kuromeru, click on the link in my sig for a little history about the gem dragons, with disclaimers and all. |
