| Cyric the Dark Sun12-13-03, 05:40 PM | Well it seems that on these boards, the dragons are revered as the coolest creatures. That dragons are allmighty and that dragon magic, weaponry and gods by far surpasses that of any other. Well I beg to differ!!! Come on! tell all about your hidden fantasies of dragon ass-kicking. Name creatures and such that would kick dragon arse. Join in my foundation: Dragons the coolest? I beg to differ! |
| JadeFox12-13-03, 05:43 PM | Incubi/Succubi. For their CR, nothing is better for terminating PC's. :smirk: |
| Derulbaskul12-14-03, 04:44 AM | Originally posted by JadeFox For their CR, nothing is better for terminating PC's. :smirk: That's because their CRs are wrong. More accurately, dragons are the ONLY monsters where the designers arbitrarily decided to reduce the CRs to take into account the fact that the players would use sound tactics. |
| Isida Kep'Tukari12-14-03, 04:48 AM | True dat. If I had used a full attack on my strongest most tricked-out PC with a dragon that was one CR below him... he would have been dead three times over. A full attack really isn't an option without having some PC deaths. |
| Gez12-14-03, 04:48 AM | Dragons are the lords of the game. Their only rivals are dungeons. (Hey, that's the most insanely munchkin construct one could imagine. An animated dungeon, a dungeon golem.) But I find sphinxes very classy and cool. |
| Incenjucar12-14-03, 04:51 AM | *shrugs* I've been dabbling with immense serpents that are rivals with dragons, and tend to prey on them by slithering in to their lairs, coiling around them to keep them from doing anything, then crushing them in to submission so they can swallow them. |
| Kain's avatar12-14-03, 05:00 AM | Hey, that's the most insanely munchkin construct one could imagine. An animated dungeon, a dungeon golem.) All signs point to awesome! ;) |

| bahamut_012-14-03, 01:11 PM | Badgers!!! Beware the badgers. They go unnoticed until one day.......... They stain your weapons with their blood. PC: Oh my god, what is that!! *slash* No, my favourite sword, badger blood on it! *Takes the sword and plunges it through his chest* Just you wait..... |

Does this even remotely make any sense? I mean— What the— Ahh scew it! Personally, I'm fond of fiends. And Kobolds. Hugely advanced Kobolds. Kobolds that earn epic levels the title "Rediculous levels". CR 148 Kobolds. Hehehehehehehe... |
| bahamut_012-14-03, 02:34 PM | It makes perfect sense and you know it! :D Seriuosly though, I love the Inevitables. Especially the Koyarut (spelling?). Inevitables rule. A CR 148 kobold. I've found my next BBEG.... :D |

| Eagle Prince12-15-03, 02:49 AM | I don't know, you'll probably have a tough road ahead of you. Dragons are just that danged cool. Powerful vampires are probably just as cool. Those long desperado fighter-types like Elric, Vampire Hunter D, Aragorn, Conan, etc are sometimes just as cool or even a lot moreso. Werewolves and demons fall a little short. Its hard to say, but I'll go with vampires. They are cool, powerful, and popular just as much so as dragons. |

For every snake there are like 50 badgers, shear force of numbers mean the badgers will destroy us all, especially if they start "injesting" all those 'shrooms! :D |
| El_Machinae12-15-03, 04:37 PM | Lichs are cool. Actively seeking undeath, to augment your magical might, and allow you to have plans that span the centuries. ... that's pretty villainous |
| ieattrollsforbreakfast12-15-03, 04:59 PM | Trolls are cool. (bet you didnt see that one coming!) Not only are they fun to fight and DM, but they are so easy to make more dangerous :D Half-Fiend Troll Half-Dragon Troll Half-Fey Troll Half-Golem Troll Paragon Troll Pseudonatural Troll Easy to template monster mean lots of fun :D I have found also that a lot of so called 'invulnerable' monsters are based around trolls, thanks to their regeneration. Lets see now then.....I think a troll could take out a dragon...perhaps. |

| Cyric the Dark Sun12-30-03, 08:25 PM | people are misunderstanding my post/foundation. It is a forum for people who does not like dragons very much!:b: |

| Willie the Duck01-03-04, 05:00 PM | dragons are definately sacred cows. There are alot about them I don't like: Spellcaster levels - Why are all dragons spellcasters? I certainly don't remember that from my favorite books. If you want some dragons to cast spells, give them sorcerer levels. Don't make it part of the package. Blindsense - Why? are dragons half bat (I can see the resemblance, mostly in the wings;))? give them darkvision so they don't need torches and leave it at that. I seem to remember stories of people sneaking past a distracted dragon, now it can't happen. Spell resistance - They already have rediculous saves, this is just insult after injury. Genius - Why are all non-white dragons super geniuses. I understand that you might want to have a particular dragon be a super genius, but not all of them. certainly nothing over 18-20 is needed for any of the mental stats, but they all seem to be in the 20-40 range. and of course Deliberate CR fudging - CR is supposed to measure how much of a challenge a given encounter. If dragons are supposed to be the best of the best, they should have a commesurately high CR! |
| KingDubya03-18-04, 05:17 PM | Originally posted by Cyric the Dark Sun Name creatures and such that would kick dragon arse. i could say that anything could beat a dragon if it were at a high enough level (my little brother could destroy one with his lvl 5 half-orc barbarian), but that would be insulting my fave creature. |
| IceFractal03-18-04, 07:33 PM | A level 500 commoner of course, who just took the epic feat which increases strength for every feat. |
| Shiron03-18-04, 11:03 PM | I must say that the Lord of the Rings should have all its Badger characters fully restored, that was the funniest thing I have ever seen, very well not and some good dance moves. |
| Ravnos03-19-04, 08:51 PM | Githyanki - cool looking and tough. |

I think advanced Solars could take out pretty much everything *g* |
| Vaalingrade Ashland03-21-04, 03:50 AM | I'll tell you what beats Dragons: Vorpal Kitties (http://www.ledgermaincomics.com/Images/Extras/dnd_stuff/vorpal_kitty.htm), that's what. |
