There was a Dragon Magazine article a long time ago (issue #96, I think???) that gave the process for enchanting the teeth of dragons so that when planted at sundown, warriors would rise up from the ground at sunrise bound to the service of the one who planted them.

I can't find my copy of the Dragon that has the article, and I was wanting to see about converting them to 3.5. Has anyone already done this conversion?

TIA,
SALDAR

I remember and enjoyed the article. I still have that Dragon at home I believe. I haven't seen an update anywhere though. Sorry.

I tried this a while back but I haven't played them yet. Take a look and hopefully it helps.

I haven't figured the cost and exp issues yet.

Dragon’s Tooth Warriors

A few rare wizards have a better use for a dragon’s tooth than making an ale cup out of it. Dragon’s teeth are rare. With the proper spells and materials, the tooth can be used to create the children of the dragon. A dragon tooth can be enchanted so that when planted in the ground and given a command word (usually ‘grow’), the tooth sprouts an armed warrior appropriate to the dragon from whose tooth it grew. Each dragonman also has special abilities unique to its type.
When discovered as part of a treasure trove, dragon’s teeth may be found in collections of 1d8, usually contained in a leather bag. A single dragon’s tooth is usually between 3 and 12 inches in length. Dungeon Masters may use the following table to determine the Dragon Type of teeth found:

01-20% Blue
21-40% Green
41-65% Black
66-90% White
91-00% Red

Sometimes (10% chance), a bag may contain a mixed assortment of teeth; the different types determined using the above percentile rolls. In such cases, the teeth might be color-coded or marked in some fashion that the player characters must puzzle out. Dragonmen either obey or attack the person who caused the teeth to grow, depending on the alignments involved.
Dragonmen of an alignment opposite to that of the possessor of the teeth (such as lawful good vs. chaotic evil, or chaotic good vs. lawful evil) refuse to obey the owner of the dragon’s teeth and attack at once.
If the owner’s alignment either differs in only one respect from the dragonman's (lawful good vs. lawful evil, for example) or is neutral, then the dragonman makes a Will save (DC16+owner’s charisma modifier) to determine if it obeys the owner. Failure indicates the warriors obey, albeit reluctantly and without enthusiasm. Daily saves are made to determine continued fealty. A successful save allows the dragonman to desert and if the opportunity is there, it may injure or discomfit the owner of the tooth in some way. Dragonmen of the same alignment as the possessor of the teeth are loyal to the death. (Dragonmen continue to live until killed.) Being magical constructs, they and all their apparel and items disintegrate when slain, with no possible chance of resurrection or saving short of a wish or miracle.
To be worthy of enchantment, a dragon’s teeth must be in perfect condition without chips, cracks, or splits due to age, careless handling, or extraction. A dragon, according to one source, has 64 teeth in its mouth normally, ¼ of which are in perfect condition. After being slain in combat, 2d6 teeth are usually damaged from fighting or lost during the beast’s death throes. Should anyone decide to pull the remainder of the teeth for sale to a wizard, and then each remaining tooth make a fortitude save using the dragon’s save bonus against (DC 15+2 per age category) during the extraction. Failure to save means the tooth is damaged during extraction and is useless for enchantment.
Enchanters who wish to create enchanted dragon’s teeth may use the following method to do so. After a tooth has been cleaned and prepared for enchantment, it is immersed in a crystal basin containing a broth composed of a mixture of the parent dragon’s blood and at least one of the following ingredients, according to the type of tooth being enchanted.
Black: Black dragon acid, giant slug spittle, bombardier beetle glands, or large quantities of strong acid.
Blue: Several crushed electric eels, dust or gems from the body of a shocker, umpleby hair or skin, volt barbs, or the skeleton of a boggart.
Green: Powdered ghast bone, scent glands from several giant skunks, or a large amount of wolverine musk.
Red: Chimera blood, hell hound blood, salamander blood (one drop alone suffices), or a large amount fire beetle blood.
White: Ice toad blood, hoar fox blood, or ice lizard blood.
After an appropriate ingredient is found and put into the basin, a low fire is kept burning under the basin, and the tooth is allowed to steep for one hour. The wizard must then cast a limited wish over the tooth and let it sit overnight in the mixture.

Each tooth can create a fighter with half the levels the dragon had hit dice. Each warrior also has 1/3 the number of hit points that the parent dragon once had (including the constitution bonus). The warrior makes all saving throws as a fighter though charisma is substituted for constitution for fortitude saves. A dragonman is of the same sex as the parent dragon. Dragonmen cannot be healed by anything short of a wish or miracle. Special ability caster levels are equal to dragon sorcerer levels, though the abilities are free actions. Dragonmen cannot cast or learn spells, nor can they advance in caster levels. Dragon Warriors have the armor indicated and a natural AC bonus of ¼ the parent dragon. Strength is 10 + ½ the strength of the parent. Charisma is 1/3 that of the parent. In all other respects dragonmen are treated as constructs. All of their equipment is of standard quality but can enchanted via spells.

Black Dragon: A warrior dressed in black chain mail with large metal shield and armed with a black long sword, chaotic evil in alignment, with INT 10, DEX 13, WIS 10. The warrior is immune to acid and can cast Melf's acid arrow once a day

Blue Dragon: A warrior accoutered in blue full plate with large hide (wooden) shield and armed with a mace. Lawful evil in alignment, with an INT 12, DEX 15, WIS 10, this warrior is immune to electricity and can cast shocking grasp once a day.

Green Dragon: A warrior dressed in scale armor covered over with green vestments and carrying a MW mighty (+4) composite longbow, a full quiver of 40 arrows, and a hand axe. This lawful evil warrior has INT 11, DEX 18, WIS 10. He is immune to poison and can cast stinking cloud once per day.

Red Dragon: An armsman dressed in red plate armor with a large metal shield and carrying a bastard sword. Chaotic evil in alignment, this warrior has INT 16, DEX 17, WIS 10. He is immune to fire and can cast burning hands twice per day.

White Dragon: A berserker dressed in white splint mail with shield and carrying a battle-axe appears. This chaotic evil warrior has an INT 8, DEX 12, WIS 8. There is a 10% chance at the start of any combat that he goes into a Barbarian rage. He cannot end this rage voluntarily and will attack anyone within 100 feet (or line of sight; whichever is less) once he enters the rage and for the remainder of the day. He is immune to cold. Once per day, he can inflict 3d10 points of cold damage with his icy stare (Ranged touch) though this ability is not usable while in a rage.

Dragons’ teeth can be sold if a buyer can be located, but such buyers are usually evil and the seller takes his own risks in such transactions. Perfect teeth sell for 10-100gp x (age category)2 of the dragon, depending on type and the buyers mood.
Strong Necromancy, xp and gp cost unknown. PC’s won’t be making them.

you give a description of what they are wearing, though what is their physical description? Do they look something like half-dragons? or more like lizardfolk? or just normal humans?

I would assume they'd resemble half-dragons of the parents type.
