The SRD states the following.

Spells: Driders cast spells as 6th-level clerics, wizards, or sorcerers.

I understand this is because Lolth turns the drow that fail some mystic test into driders when they hit level 6.

So what I need to understand is this. If I want to increae my wizard driders caster level. Do I add on Abberation Hit Dice, or Wizard Hit Dice?

Because in theory, a Drider should be a Drow with 6 Hit dice in what ever class + an aquired template. This idea of having a monster with abberation Hit Dice and acting as if it was a wizard / cleric / sorcerer is a but botched in my opinion.

I am thinking of going with just adding on Wizard Hit Dice, and count the Driders 6 HD as being wizard levels.

Anyone have any advice on this?

Adding wizard levels would increase a wizard-drider's spellcasting--adding abberation hit dice would not. See the Monster Manual, page 294.

And a drider advances by class lvs, not by HD.
