I'm wondering, would this creature be appropriate to use in a pyramid setting? If not, what are other good places to put this creature ( i love the idea behind it! :) )

They're originally from the quasielemental plane of dust (the border region between elemental earth and negative energy).

However, that said, I can see them working in any setting with a combination of a lack of water, earth or stone, and high levels of undead or some other source of negative energy. A pyramid works thematically, so go for it. I was pleased as punch to see the Dust Wight in the MMIII.

They're originally from the quasielemental plane of dust (the border region between elemental earth and negative energy). Not in the current edition... if 3e considered them to come from the plane of dust they would have the extraplanar subtype... like it or not 3e just barrowed the monster and made it a native of the material plane.

as for working in a pyramid setting, sure I think they would work wonderfully in just about any desert environment... although it probably wouldn;t work so well in a mayan pyrmad type setting :P

Actually I was wrong on that. They're just most common on that plane, but aren't 'native' really since they're just what happens when a mortal dies there most often. So even given that, they'd still nominally be native to the prime, you're right on that.

But yeah, 3e has a habit of grabbing monsters, stripping them of context and them writing them up. *shrug*

Besides, they ditched the Plane of Dust when they made the 3.0 cosmology.
