| Palomides01-12-06, 12:31 AM | I'm planning a little trip to the City of Brass, and I'm wondering how many HD should the Grand Sultan be. With that I should be able to guess how many hit dice pashas, beys, vizir etc are. Would you necessarly direclty relate nobility level/social class to hit dice ? |
| Seraph of Babel01-12-06, 01:18 AM | Not necessarily. A noble might just be a 1st-level aristocrat. Planar Handbook says the Grand Sultan is sorcerer 20 and Grand Vizier is cleric 10. If you pop over to Planescape forum, we have converted the noble genies in the Monstrous Compendium thread. |
| dok01-12-06, 01:32 AM | A much more relevant question is: What, exactly, is going to be going on between the PCs and the Grand Sultan where you'll need to know how many hit dice he has? The folks over at Dicefreaks (who work very hard on integrating the Epic rules with Dieities & Demigods to create a cohesive whole) would probably tell you that the Grand Sultan should have the maximum HD for an Efretti (30 HD) plus at least 20 class levels and possible an exotic template for being a powerful ruler of part of an elemental plane. |
| Shemeska the Marauder01-12-06, 04:58 PM | The exact level of power for the noble genie-kin is up for debate I think. I'd consider them for the most part as having power on the medium'ish end of the scale outside of their own society* but nothing compared to the power of the archomentals and the true neutral elemental deities (who might as well -be- the plane itself in many ways). *(they've certainly enough had turnover in their history to suggest they aren't on the level of archfiends) |
