Egyptian Monsters [Archive] - Wizards Community

11-06-06, 03:55 PM I need a list of monsters you would suggest to go into a egyptian based campaign. Pull from any book, just give a name and source (i.e. Fang Dragon from Sand Storm). Thanks in advance.

Or alternatively, what would you leave out of an Egyptian based campaign? what does not belong?

11-06-06, 04:18 PM -For a good feel of an Egyptian setting, I'd suggest finding a copy of the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting, and quickly flipping through the Mulhorand section. Mulhorand, in a nutshell, was formed by the Ancient Egyptians, who were kidnapped by an ancient Realmsian empire, and brought to Toril to be slaves. Alternativley, the 2e FR sourcebook Old Empires gives the same, if not more, information about Mulhorand, albeit in 2e.

11-06-06, 06:53 PM Well, the ankheg's name itself suggests an Egyptian origin. I could do some stuff like amemait and apep (statted as a species, not deities).

11-06-06, 10:49 PM Well, you probably already know about this one, but pretty much anything from Sandstorm works. Also, there is a section in Dragon issue 334 on monsters "derived from and inspired by Akkadian, Arabian, Egyptian, and Persian myths," (p. 37). Monstrous scorpions work in any desert setting, and, of course, sphinxes.
