| Lord Karsus04-14-06, 02:23 AM | -I don't own the Monster Manual III, but I am intent on using an Eldrich Giant as an NPC. -If no one minds, could I have a quick run down on the Eldrich Giant? You know, things like their temperments, spell-like abilities, favored classes, and any other useful information. |
| Return of the Flumph04-14-06, 03:20 AM | Okay, I'll try to do that without violating the WOTC code of conduct. Eldritch giants are (censored). Enjoy. |

Enjoy. -Yup, that was particularly helpful! -Alright, let me rephrase my question... -If you were running an Eldrich Giant as the ruler of a small Giant Empire, what suggestions would you have for building his/her temperment? |
| Radijs04-14-06, 07:35 AM | An empire or a kingdom? em·pire n. A political unit having an extensive territory or comprising a number of territories or nations and ruled by a single supreme authority. The territory included in such a unit. So even a small empire would be quite large. You'd get the organising monarch instead of something like a warlord. |
| runestar04-14-06, 08:44 AM | While I am not advocating that you reproduce the entire article on the eldritch giant word for word, I am sure its well within the rules to give a brief summary of the giant's powers and what it can/cannot do. Still, this is a whole lot of crap coming from a guy who doesn't own MM3. :P |
| savant_warlord1304-14-06, 09:06 AM | I think this is a situation where the PCs are not going to be encountering the NPC for quite a while. He is looking for character development stuff, possibly with the intent of buying a MM3 later to give the NPC stats |
| Hammerhead04-14-06, 02:57 PM | If you want a physical description they are about 25 feet tall and really muscular. They have purple skin with runes on it. |

Still, this is a whole lot of crap coming from a guy who doesn't own MM3. -Well, I did say at the beginning, "If no one minds..." :) I think this is a situation where the PCs are not going to be encountering the NPC for quite a while. He is looking for character development stuff, possibly with the intent of buying a MM3 later to give the NPC stats -I'm not one to say that the PCs would ever meet this character. Who knows where the winds will lead them? But, even if he is never encountered, I still need to have his stats and such in place. It's still up on the fence as to I will actually buy the MMIII. Much like the PCs encountering this Giant Emperor, the future is still to cloudy to tell... If you want a physical description they are about 25 feet tall and really muscular. They have purple skin with runes on it. -Well, I know that much! But, thank you for trying to be helpful. |
| runestar04-15-06, 01:26 AM | Well, I did say at the beginning, "If no one minds..." I was referring to myself... :P |
| KhanJackalMoreau04-15-06, 04:31 AM | I don't have the book handy. They're pretty wild. Lots of SLAs. Favored class Wizard I think. Or maybe not one even mentioned, but Wizard makes sense. They're I think evil, and I seem to recall lawful. A CR in the upper teens. Civilized, so you could scare him up with some good giant-sized equipment. So a LE supersmart Giant, crazy looking with lots of SLAs. Could easily scare a bunch of lesser giants under his wing. And as for temperment, I would run the dude as a creepy aloof villian obsessed with furthering his knowlege of the arcane arts. While capable in physical combat, certainly, that is what hill giants are for. He would not sully his hands with it while experiments are waiting to be done. That's how I would run it. |
| Lord Karsus04-15-06, 11:12 PM | I was referring to myself... :P -Oh, I didn't catch that. I thought you were referring to me! I don't have the book handy... -Thank you! This is pretty much exactly what I wanted! You've made a certain Archmage very happy. As a show of gratitude, are there any enemies you want Dominated? |
