| Saxis02-22-07, 06:29 PM | I always wanted to give Druid a shot, but the generic summoner and turn into a dire bear seems a bit boring to me. That's when I got the idea that an Elemental Druid would be kinda cool. Since our games almost always lead into Epic, and elemental wild shape kinda sucks, I was hoping the epic Improved Elemental Wildshape feat could improve this. The feat opens up elemental wildshape to all elemental creatures, and you gain Ex and Su abilities. Since this is the Monster Board, I was wondering if someone had already taken a look at the various elemental creatures that could be good wildshape candidates. What I'm looking for are elemental creatures from 21-30 Hitdie with good stats and Ex/Su abilities. Anyone mind sharing their thoughts on this, and any elemental creatures you think would be good and why? |

If not, I would suggest the following: Black Rock Triskelion [Earth Avatar] (MMIV, 26 HD) Cinder Swarm (MMIII, 16 HD) Cyclonic Ravager [Air Avatar] (MMIV, 26 HD) Holocaust Disciple [Fire Avatar] (MMIV, 26 HD) Storm Elemental (MMIII, 2-24 HD) Tempest (MMII, 24 HD) Waterveiled Assassin [Water Avatar] (MMIV, 26 HD) Avatars: They're big, CR 15 (or 18, in the case of the black rock triskelion) elemental creatures that serve as avatars of the elemental evil. And let's face it, nobody messes with something called a holocaust disciple. Cinder Swarm: The swarm type has a lot of advantages, in addition to those granted by the elemental type. It's only CR 13, but you can deal 4d6 damage without an attack roll, which is useful against high-AC opponents, and the distraction quality can prove very effective against enemy spellcasters. Storm Elemental: You get to simultaneously deal electricity and sonic damage - resistances to those two energy types are extremely rare. Tempest: A CR 16 creature, you get the burn quality of fire elementals, the drench quality of water elementals, and the whirlwind quality of air elementals (and it doubles as the water elemental's vortex underwater). Although the spell-like abilities aren't much, they're usable at will. Most notable here, however, is the +10 deflection bonus to AC granted from the defensive aura ability. |
