the question im bout to ask is based off a book written by elaine cunningham.....about sea elves who escaped a prison too far from the ocean for them to reach alive.....they stayed in ale elementals....breathing ale...

im wondering if someone has control of an air elemental.....wat would be the deal if someone wanted to do an elaine cunningham but with an air elemental and underwater or in an unbreathable environment.....like gas or somthing?

The novels may be based upon D&D, but they don't necessarily have to follow the rules. The authors can take some measure (sometimes a considerable measure) of artistic license, especially where magic is concerned.

Is it possible? Sure, anything is possible in fiction. Is it plausible? That's entirely a matter of opinion. Are there firmly established rules to do it? Probably not, you may have to make them up on your own.

First, you'd have to convince the elemental to do it...
