Izax19 04-23-06, 10:48 PM	This is a question from Complete Psionic, but almost completely related to a creature, so I'm posting it here. There is a feat (Elemental Envoy) in CP that allows you to gain an Elemental Steward as an "Envoy" (think familiar). As statted in the monsters section, it is a 3HD small elemental (extraplanar, psionic) as well as being one of four elements. They are in almost every fashion identical to the small elementals from MM. They have no advancement line (not a --, there is literally no line for advancement). Although the feat does not explicitly state it, I am houseruling that their HD will increase (according to their increases in Manifesting Level given). This will mean a HD increase at CL 5,7,9,etc... up to a total of 11HD at level 19. Because the elementals presented in the MM increase in size (at 4HD to Medium and at 8 HD to Large) would the Elemental Steward also increase in size? I am really looking for an answer to three related questions: 1)Is it unbalancing to allow them to gain additional HD? 2)IF they gain additional HD, would you argue they increase in size? 3)IF they increase in size, would this be an unbalancing factor? Things to keep in mind: it takes 2 feats to get these guys, and the first is rendered null by the second. The CP is full of editing errors, so the mere lack of it being explicitly stated in the book is not enough evidence for me. I would appreciate any comments, so long as they constructive and helpful.
Izax19 04-24-06, 07:43 PM	Nobody can offer an opinion on whether a familar, based off of a small elemental from the MM, would increase in size upon gaining more HD? I expected more out of the Monsters board! ;) They don't have to have any basis in rules even, just spout out some opinions, say you need more info, something.
