| tuberov03-17-07, 12:39 PM | I only currently have access to Monster Manual 1. I was wondering if in any of the other monster manuals or in the fiend folio if there was an entries for an elven dog (known as a kooshee in 2ed.) or an elfin cat. I was looking to pick one up as a familiar for my character, but I want to be able to find them in a book first before I bring it up to the DM. |

| LivingShadow03-17-07, 04:40 PM | There is an Elven dog in Races of the wild, I think it is availible as an animal companion. |
| Evil DM Mk303-17-07, 04:42 PM | Graceful hunting dogs Birds of prey Felines, inclding big cats prehaps. |
| Return of the Flumph03-17-07, 04:43 PM | I remember my Kushee from 2nd edition. Best animal companion a druid could ask for. |
| Sledgerosaur03-17-07, 05:14 PM | I dont know about pets, but in MM2, there is a trio of lesser dragons which were gifted to aid and protect elves... IMO the cr1 one could be a good "friend of the family" the "spitter" cr2 one (the most intelligent at int 7 i think) could help out sentries on sentry duty , while the third one (cr3) has already been given a task: to guard elven nobles. |
| tuberov03-17-07, 05:36 PM | Well, the full thing is that my character is a human duskblade1/fighter 1. He's going to be taking one more level in fighter and then fill the rest out in duskblade, maybe throw in 5 levels of abjurant champion. Therefore, in order for me to get a familiar in the first place, I'll need to get the obtain familiar feat, then get improved familiar to get something more than a mouse or an owl. I was thinking of something along the lines of an elfin cat or elven dog because his personality leans towards that of favoring the elven way of life and loving everything elvish. He wields an elven courtblade as it reminds him of happier times and a better society in his opinion. I just figured that it would be fitting for him to have him obtain a sort of "elvish" familiar. By the way, what was the name of those lesser dragons in Monster Manual 2? |
| Red Dragon03-17-07, 09:23 PM | Felldrakes (sp), which is ironic, since they're direct creations of Bahamut. There's more in the draconomicon and maybe the Fiend Folio, but I'm unsure on the latter. |
| Domriso03-17-07, 09:33 PM | In Races of the Wild they have a creature in the back of the book known as the Elven Hound. Strangely enough, the Elven Hound is the only one of the four creatures that doesn't have a section describing it as an animal companion. Anyway, the first line of it reads, "The elven hound (called cooshee in Elven) is a massive dog." I assume that is what you are looking for. I can post the statistics if you want. |
| tuberov03-18-07, 09:24 AM | Sweet! I've got the book so I can get the stat blocks myself. Many thanks to you Domriso. :bounce: |
