| Platonix05-31-06, 11:29 PM | Okay, I'm making some weird magic items, and one of the things I need for the items' effects is the stats for elementals that are based, not on the four elements, but on the following energy types: fire cold acid electricity force positive energy negative energy Now, Fire's really easy because it's both an element and an energy type. Just use Fire Elementals right out of the Monster Manual. Cold and Acid are also easy, thanks to the Manual of the Planes. The Ice Paraelemental and the Ooze Paraelemental, respectively, fit the bill quite nicely. I'm stumped on Electricity. I'm surprised at the dearth of monsters with the (Electricity) subtype. I'm also not sure what to do for the others; for Negative Energy, something like a Shadow would be perfect, but I kinda need stats for sizes from Small to beyond Huge the way the basic elementals are presented. Does anyone know of monsters that could feasibly be used as beings of energy akin to the elementals? I'd be willing to accept some quality homebrews. |

| myusernameis06-01-06, 02:39 AM | The storm elemental can be found in the Monster Manual 3. |
| Nived06-01-06, 09:47 AM | Paraelementals will also fill out your acid one. Specifically the Ooze Elemental (blending of a water and an earth elemental), has some nasty acid related abilities. The Ooze Elemental along with the other Paraelements. Smoke, Ice, and Magma are in the Manual of the Planes. |

I'm tempted to house-rule those out for the purpose of this campaign, but I suppose I'd have to buff it somewhere else to keep it at its current CR...oh, wait a sec! These guys are 1 CR higher than basic elementals! The paraelementals aren't, are they? /checks/ No, they're in line with the basic elementals. All right then, I'll remove the sonic damage from Thunder and Lightning (renaming it Lightning Strike) and the sonic healing and treat it as the same CR as other elementals. Yay! Paraelementals will also fill out your acid one. Specifically the Ooze Elemental (blending of a water and an earth elemental), has some nasty acid related abilities. The Ooze Elemental along with the other Paraelements. Smoke, Ice, and Magma are in the Manual of the Planes. Yeah, I kinda said that in my original post. |
| RavinRay06-02-06, 07:45 AM | Although they aren't elementals in the strict sense of the word, the seven energons thus far represent seven energies, to wit: Manual of the Planes Xag-ya (positive energy) Xeg-yi (negative energy) Planar Handbook Xac-yel (fire) Xac-yu (acid) Xaup-yaup (electricity) Xong-yong (sonic) Xor-yost (cold) And from the Mind's Eye psionics column is the psionic energon, the xag-az. |
| Platonix06-02-06, 01:50 PM | Yeah, I considered those, but what would be some good stats for Small, Large, and Huge versions of them? As stated earlier I kinda need that. Actually, since the medium ones are CR 5, I suppose a Tiny one would be good to have too. It'd be best to keep CRs similar across the energy types. |
| Chaotis06-02-06, 08:41 PM | You might be able to make a force one as well using the PH energons as a base. |
