| Red_Decker09-05-03, 03:56 AM | They should have a +2 natural armor bonus. Because, have you ever hit a fly and it tries to fly away? :r: |

| Red_Decker09-05-03, 05:07 AM | That was my point, maybe I should specify. Have you ever hit a fly and it tries to fly away after impact. :r: |
| Tenzhi09-05-03, 07:00 AM | Originally posted by Red_Decker That was my point, maybe I should specify. Have you ever hit a fly and it tries to fly away after impact. :r: Nope. Every time I've hit a fly it stays down. Indeed, they are so fragile that perhaps a -2 Natural Armour Penalty would be appropriate. |
| Red_Decker09-05-03, 08:14 AM | Must be the flies up here, kinda like the mosquitos in Minnesota. I had done a flies stats before the way I did it was scale a monstrous bee or wasp, can't remember which, down to fine and I came up with an AC around 29. :r: |
| Tenzhi09-05-03, 08:32 AM | Could be that we're talking about different kinds of flies. I'm thinking of typical little house flies (generally about the same size as a dime). Horse flies (generally about the size of a silver dollar, though I've seen some as big as locusts) would be a different story - though I'd still hesitate to give them an AC bonus, and if I did it wouldn't be more than a +1. |
| Veneficus09-05-03, 04:57 PM | you did a good job with the fly, except for the "cannot be flanked" thing... I have performed the Sneak Attack maneuver on more flies than I can count over the years. Rob them of that Dex bonus, and they are easy to hit. :) |
| sandskimmer09-05-03, 11:43 PM | I'd like to know how you've managed that! Everytime I try to sneak up on a fly, it seems to see me coming a mile away & takes of just as I go to strike. If you have some ancient, all-powerful secret for killing flies, I'd like to know!:) |
| Dragon Master09-05-03, 11:55 PM | Clap your hands together just above there heads. They will think they are trying to hit them, and fly up to get out of the way, flying straight into your hand which is actually above them. Alternatively you could use a fly gun... they are funny... they never seem to hit but. Oh, and a very fine idea. I like it... could work as a potential enemy when i shrink my players in an upcoming scenario. |
| sandskimmer09-06-03, 06:33 PM | Oh, and a very fine idea. I like it... could work as a potential enemy when i shrink my players in an upcoming scenario. If you do that, you might want to consider making them biting flies (like horse flies). Give them a base damage of 1 & up everything for the relative size increase (in relation to the shrinking pcs that is). Adding a +1 natural armor bonus (as suggested in earlier posts) for its exoskeleton might not be a bad idea either. "fine idea": nice pun. |
