We are going to be playing a very high level campaign, and I am considering playing an adult (or possibly older) dragon. Presently, I'm unsure of the color of the dragon - but certainly a mettalic (or maybe a Battle Dragon from the Draconomicon).

Has anyone seen or constructed advancement tables for Dragon PC's beyond the 20 levels detailed in the Draconomicon. I'm trying to figure out where to begin when it comes to assigning an LA for some dragons. The book doesn't suggest any pattern for any types of dragons (I was in fact surprised the 14 HD red and the 14 HD bronze both had the same LA).

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Um... Perhaps This comes from ignorance, but according to the 3.5 MM, the LA for a juvenile Green Dragon is +4, at 16HD... how exactly does a green dragon lose 2 LA and gain 2 HD?

Is there a different progression in LA and HD in the Draconomicon?

To put it simply: No.

As I have stated before, I do not feel that the figures given by WotC in Savage Species, the Monster Manual v3.5 or the Draconomicon to be entirely realistic. It has, in fact, been stated by the designers that in a lot of cases they artificially inflated the Level Adjustments to try and keep people playing the core races. My progressions simply use what I feel to be a more fair and realistic value for the Level Adjustments. They are also designed to take the dragon as a whole into account, and not treat each age category as a completely seperate creature/class.

I like the progression so far..i've always felt that most dragons were abotu 1 level per HD, but slightly better than that. though Epic Dragons tend to be nasty enough to justify a straight 2 levels per HD

That sound perfectly reasonable to me, I was just curious. And i appreciate the effort you put into it =]

As a side note, do you, ehm, plan on finishing that for the other dragons? Or is it more of a "create your own progression" for the remaining dragons?

Yes, I do plan on getting to the other OGC dragons eventually, but the timeframe on it is, I'm afraid, "when I get around to it". ;)
