Alright, on another set of forums someone is requesting a 100 HD terrasque for their (horribly) epic game. Now, when advancing an epic creature to truley epic levels do you just keep advancing it as any creature under 20 HD?

I've never really played epic levels but I do know that when characters advance beyond 20 HD they start using some other method or something.

Racial HD never triggers the Epic Progression. Which is utterly imbalancing with regards to the PCs.

Yeah, I guess it is only a CR 37, but still...

That's not scary. That's just silly.

Nope. To make the Tarrasque really scary, go ahead and add 100 HD, and then apply the phrenic template. I'll take psionic dominate with a range of 1100 ft. and a DC of 60+charisma mod against all creatures in a 15 ft. spread. Or just mind thrust for 100d10, Will DC 60+mod to negate.

Still not scary enough? Add 5 levels of Hulking Hurler to deal with those pesky flying NPCs; wanna guess how much the tarrasque can lift & throw?

Naw, this guy says no templates or anything.

It may seem unbalanced, but for a CR 37 monster, it's lacking many of the things most CR 37 monsters have.

- Movement type other than standard walking
- DR that will be EASY to overcome at that level
- Still no way to deal with airborne creatures (a ranger on a flying carpet with a +6 bow can whittle him down)
- No fancy attacks - unlike 99% of monsters by CR 37, it still has to run up and melee the party to death
- It is subject to a good lambasting from epic spells

Honestly, without templates, this guy is just a walking HP sac that will likely not be able to attack the party (who should all be airborne by level 37)

*shrugs*

I just gave what was asked for. Personally I think those who run games that high are nuts anyways

So how'd you figure the CR as 37?

Well, because it has intelligence 3, its allowable for it to have class levels, I suppose. But I wouldn't allow it, simply for the fact that a half-orc could beat the snot out of it, were they on opposed debate teams.

Half Orc: Grug demand that opponent use real words in counter-points!!
Tarrasque:WWWWRRRAAAAAAARRRWWWW!!!(Knock ing over several acres of forest, due to sonic resonance.)
Half Orc: Grug find counter-point acceptable.
Or maybe not. Still a funny thought.
