| metamind12-05-05, 05:20 PM | Im looking for a good evil (or chaotic nuetral) monster that does not look like a freak. Specificly im looking for a medium, non-outsider, and overall great monster. Any suggestions? |
| Blaze_the_Dragon12-05-05, 05:27 PM | Medusas but don't be surprized when your chased out of town Drow but don't be surprized when your chased out of town Minotaur but don't be surprized when your chased out of town Mind Flayer No one would have the guts to tell a Mind Flayer what to do. |
| sandskimmer12-05-05, 06:55 PM | Your normal, everyday, nice guy down the street who is also completely insane - but keeps to himself. Your drow, medusa, minotaur, mind flayer who is polymorphed to look like a human/elf/dwarf, etc. A succubus. |
| The Vorpal Tribble12-05-05, 07:22 PM | I think he said does NOT look like a freak, guys ;) -=-=-=-=- #1. Elans from the Expanded Psionics Handbook. They can be any alignment, but they look completely human, and once were, but underwent an expirement that replaced their life force with psionic energy. They have the Aberration type which is cool. #2. Imps, they can look like any bloody thing they wish of the right size (including Medium). #3. Phasms, Dopplegangers or Changelings (MM III) of course. #4. Unbodied from the XPH, they can look like anything, are incorporeal (but not dead, or undead), psionic abilities, telepethay, etc. #5. Icegaunt from Frostburn are cold-based undead, but are so perfectly preserved they look alive. #6. Someone with the Half Far Realm template from Lords of Madness. They usually look normal but clothing can conceal the tentacles or other strange deformities they may have. #7. Shifters/Fey Touched (Fiend Folio) look odd but not freakish unless you want them to and they can be any alignment. #8. Bodaks look as they did in life it says (undead). #9. A hag is a classic. #10. Yuan-ti purebloods. They have some reptilian characteristics, but it may only be strange eyes or a forked tongue. #11. Bacchae, Selkie, Shadar-Kai, Skulks, from the Fiend Folio are all evil or neutral and look quite human. How're those? |
| Slagger the Chuul12-05-05, 10:10 PM | And let's not forget lycanthropes or vampires; classic monsters that spend a lot of time amongst regular humans. |
| malykoth12-05-05, 10:48 PM | Humans (Elf, Dwarf, etc)..."normal" folks can be incredibly monstrous! Any Shapechanger...dopplegangers, changelings, and a few others have already been mentioned. Vampires...another that's already been mentioned. I'd suggest the penanggalan in particular. By day, it looks like a normal human female, and can even go out in the sun, but at night, it's a flying head with dangling entrails! Fey...evil fey can be incredibly beautiful, but have hearts as cold as ice, and lack even the concept of mercy. |
| obrysii12-05-05, 11:30 PM | Dragons...but you said "no great monsters" Uh...Any of the core races. Warforged. |
| Frost Reaver12-05-05, 11:49 PM | Planetouched come to mind. There are two found in the Monster Manual. Also, I believe in one of the chapters in the free Planescape PDF found on the Planeswalker website, you can find planetouched as player races from practically all the planes. Also genasi. |
| Thamiorathon12-06-05, 07:04 AM | Rakshasa are awesome. |
| Anterrabae12-07-05, 05:35 PM | Half-Vampires (Katanes), Curst (Undead), Lycanthropes/Changelings, Shadar-Kai, Creatures with the Feral Template (lev adj +1!!), Creatures with almost any template! Ghostwalk Ghosts? I dunno. |
| Darth Sephiroth12-08-05, 02:12 AM | Half Dragon Drow, I've been playing a Half Black Dragon Drow for a while and well, it is quite fun as most people would be caught somewhere between the run away/chase you away or just do what you want because your scary. |
| Rhomphaia12-08-05, 05:37 AM | You only need to do one thing. Make a core (PHB and DMG only) character for an evils game. There you go. |
| R.M.G.C.L.F.12-08-05, 05:46 PM | AHEM. Chaotic neutral is not "It's like playing chaotic evil without showing up on evil-dar! =D" Chaotic neutral is passionate and free-spirited, like Han Solo, Jay and Silent Bob, etc. If you're going to be selfish and malevolent, be evil. Having said that, I think what you would need is a creature with illusionary disguise or shape-shifting abilities, and such creatures tend to be high ELC monsters. |
