Hey all, basically I'm just curious about the Xill in depth that the 3.5 monster manual doesn't cover. As in, how long does it take for Xills to fully mature considering it only takes 3 months (90 days) to hatch? Do they live in groups similar to Kobalds that lethaly defend their teritory? Do they hold any of the gods in a particular high esteim? Do the more inteligent Xills believe in a sort of superiority to the barbaric Xills? And if so, is there friction, or perhaps even civil war between them? More or less I'm trying to gether some info. about them for a campaign I'm writing to include every monster that most of my campaigns simply don't use, and where better to start than our four armed friend, Xill. :D

Most of the detail on them comes from their writeup in the Planescape Monstrous Compendium III (the inner planes) and 'Guide to the Ethereal'. A brief bit now on some of your questions.

The information therein has the eggs hatching in 4 days, and the larvae eat their way out in another 7. Go with whichever one you feel works best.

Xill live approx 50 years and reproduce twice normally during that period (needing a living host to do so. The High Xill clans are rumored to have hidden spawning ground in the deep ethereal where they keep barely sentient human slaves for hosts, having breed them by force for generations as a long term solution to their need to capture live hosts).

No detail on Xill maturity is given therein, but I would expect it be be fairly quick given the short period needed to go from implanted egg to immature xill.

Society

The high clans/civilized Xill live in cities in the Deep Ethereal built atop islands of solidified ethereal protomatter. They don't automatically trust outsiders, but they don't attack them immediately either, and often they'll engage in trade with visitors. These xill will often sell their services as guides in the depths of the etheral. Still keep in mind though that they're evil and power hungry.

High Clans versus Low Clans:

The civilized Xill don't like to talk about the low Xill, and present themselves as unlike those. They are still evil, powerhungry and still need human hosts to reproduce... though nobody ever sees them kidnapping for this purpose like the low clans...

The Low Clans/Barbaric Xill don't acknowledge any distinction between themselves and the High Clans. They only see themselves as predators, with everything else being prey.

Gods

Any lawful evil deity might work best with them, though their details don't give anything in specific for them.

:D AWESOME! I'll have to look into the Planescape Monstrous Compendium III to get it ver batim. Thanks alot for the info., but just for the sake of having another opinion I wonder what everyone thinks is a reasonable adult age for Xill. I'm thinking they'd hit childhood at around 5, teenage around 8 and adult at about 10. Does that sound reasonable? Thanks!
