05-09-04, 04:09 AM How many experience points does a 1 hd character with a level adjustment (say +1 or +2) begin with? I know that you use their ECL to find how many experience points they need to go up a level, but how much do they begin with?

Example: Tom is a first level Aasimer Fighter. He has 1 hd and +1 level adjustment. He needs 3,000 to level up again. Does he begin with 0 experience, or does he begin with 1,000?

05-09-04, 04:36 AM It's assumed that the LA comes with an appropriate amount of experience points.

So, in your example, the Aasimer Fighter would begin play as a level 2 character would... with 1,000 XP.

Basically, treat the character as though he were starting out at 2nd level as a race with no LA... this includes spells, money, gear, etc.
