Extraplanar Undead? [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-14-05, 03:26 PM Are there any templates that can be applied to undead that give the extraplanar subtype? I can't find any, and I think it would be a cool idea for a Necromancer to have extraplanar undead on his Summon Monster list.

Aside from that, i do not know of any templates that canmake undead extraplanar

I don't remember a spell called Summon Undead; is it in Libris Mortis?

08-14-05, 03:47 PM Magic of Faerun, and Libris Mortis. chain of spells, simmon undead I, II, III, IV, and V. i think/ i'd hjave to look it up to tell you if it goes to five of six. i think its five.

08-15-05, 08:16 PM You could probably get Magic of Faerun for around 6.00 used on amazon. (I'm sorry if it is against the rules of the forum to mention other websites) I almost got it myself and it sounds as if it has tons of spells. Also, there is an abyssal ghoul in the fiend folio for your extraplanar search. Come to think of it, the Necronaut from the MM3 is probably also extraplanar. In fact the bloodfiend from the fiend folio might be as well (a bloodfiend is to demons as a vampire is to us). Though I'm not sure if they're extraplanar, nightshades aren't native to the material plane. you could rule that lesser undead exist on other planes but just have Celestial, Fiendish, Anarchic, and Axiomic (the last two are from manual of the planes) applied to them. It works.

08-15-05, 09:08 PM I had always thought that a crature needed to be an Outsider in ordert obe Summoned/Called.
This came up as I looked for ways to Call Ghosts, after the Master of Shrouds best ability was Nerfed.
Perhaps since you are using the alternate summon monster rules, extraplanar is all that is required.
I think, but am not sure , that there are two Planar templates Umbral and some other one that would be appropriate, as they actually make the creature undead.

In Planar Handbook, it doesn't say that Anarachic or Axiomatic can be added to undead, but there is the entropic template in there that can be added to undead and it gives them the extraplanar subtype.
