Yet another creature based on a hideous drawing I did, this one at work while I was bored. Let me know what you think, critiques & comments are always appreciated.

Emerging from the tide, a huge red eye stares fixedly at you. The iris is oddly squared, and set inside a grayish green head. Tentacles break the surface of the water and retreat, suddenly large boulders begin hurling themselves toward you!

Coastline Gazer’s are semi-aquatic creatures that live in coastlines sporting huge rocky shores. A Coastline Gazer appears as a giant red eye, atop a stock, resting above 4 tentacles. Coastline Gazer’s are masters of telekinesis, which they use in hunting and defense. Their favorite food is large sea turtles, which they lift from the water using Telekinetic Force and then bash into paste with large boulders. They slurp this up using their small sucker-like mouths, located on the underside of their “heads”.

Coastline Gazer’s have a semblance of sentience, and like to collect shiny objects; usually items that have drifted ashore, or scavenged from a near-by ship wreck. These pilfered items are often used to decorate their lairs, which are normally caverns that overlook or are directly on the coast. They do not always attack on sight, but are fiercely territorial and will attack if an intruder does not show immediate signs of withdrawal.

Coastline Gazers stand roughly 4-5’ tall, and weigh about 150 lbs. Coastline Gazers do not speak.

Combat:

Coastline Gazer’s are quite agile, and are more than capable of tumbling around enemies and hurling rocks down on them. Although not very intelligent, they have a good basic instinct for tactics and make good use of their Telekinetic Maneuver to keep heavy melee combatants off their feet, or disarmed while they pelt their weaker foes with large boulders. If possible they will either wade out into the water, despite being generally poor swimmers, or climb a nearby cliff to avoid melee combat. They’re also quite fond of hurling foes over the edges of cliffs, or far out into the sea to hopefully drown, or maybe be eaten by larger sea-dwellers.

Rock Steady (Ex): A Coastline Gazer can move over difficult, rocky terrain at it’s full speed without penalty. Terrain such as rubble or un-even, rocky coasts are examples of this type of terrain.

Psi-Like Abilities: at will – telekinetic force(DC 16, 400 lbs*), telekinetic maneuver(+2 bonus to checks*), telekinetic thrust(DC 16, 400 lbs*) Manifester level 11th. The save DC’s are Charisma-based.

*Includes augmentation for Coastline Gazer’s manifester level.

Skills: Coastline Gazer’s receive a +8 racial bonus to Climb, and Swim checks to perform some special action or avoid a hazard. Coastline Gazer’s can always choose to take a 10 on Climb and Swim checks, even if distracted or endangered, a Coastline Gazer uses it’s Dexterity bonus instead of it’s Strength on Climb and Swim checks. Coastline Gazer’s are natural tumblers, and receive a +8 racial bonus to Tumble checks.

Trust me, I've seen worse drawings, mostly done by me. But then again I do have a big ego......

Ahem...anyways I like it!

I think it's overall balanced and it's a weird thing with a lil gimmick that makes it stand out.

I'll have to borrow it some time... :shifty: :plotting:

I like this! Its too bad I don't really care for psionics that much, but I suppose Telekinisis at will would do almost the same thing, right? Anyway, cool new creature. I would guess it at a CR 6, but a really low one. Then again, given the proper setting, and a couple of lucky rolls for you and unlucky rolls for your players, this thing could mop the floor with even a heavily equiped 7th lvl party. I don't have my books on me, so I got nothing to compare it to as of now, I'll check it out later when I can make a decent comparison. Other than that, looks preety good to me!

Yeah, pretty much.

Yeah, given the correct conditions this guy could be devastating. If he was surrounded by 400 lb boulders, he has a chance to do 16d6 a round with em'. However, he also has real low hp and AC, and his combat ability is highly situational. So, if you dont want him to paint the rocky cliff walls with your party, don't surround him with huge boulders. However, if that is your intent...by all means splatter away, and I applaud your style

These guys are built to be used in rocky coastlines, they can be dropped wherever of course..but they're natural haibitat is, as their abilities would suggest, on rocky shores.

There are plenty of rocky coasts in warmer climates and besides; this is for a fantasy game anyhow, no reason there can't be millions of rocky coasts in tropical weather :P
