| Laszlo Koller06-19-03, 12:36 AM | First of all, has the faerie dragon appeared in any d20-style "monster manual"? If so, which book? Also, can anyone please submit the physical description of a Faerie Dragon from such a source? I'm not looking for the stat block , just the description of the creature as published. The players in this campaign won't be interacting with the creature in this manner (i.e., combat and the like); instead, they'll be interacting with it in more of a role-playing manner, and I'd like to be able to describe the creature to them in detail. Thanks. |

Without it you don't know its intelligence, its people skills, its perception, none of the mental stuff. For all you know it could just stand there and say "mooooo", OR it could be more intelligent than Albert Einstain and Stephen Hawking combined. WEithout the stats, you don't know which one. Not to mention the lack of skills. How can it interact socially without diplomacy, intimidate, and all the other social skills??? Come ON people!! Stats are not just for fighting!!! PS: No, they appear neither in MMI nor in MMII, and I have never seen them anywhere. exept in old issues of Dragon magazine. |

| K'man06-19-03, 01:04 PM | Hmm... they used have good mental stats overall, cast spells as druids/mages, and change in colors with age/mood. They were curious, relatively shy, and incorrigible pranksters. As the name suggests they're often found in the company of fey, sometimes serving as steeds for the tinier members of said race. In 3rd edition, I'd give them the following stats: Skills: bluff, diplomacy, hide, move silently, tumble, listen, spot, search, knowledge (nature), spellcraft Stats: Str 5-ish, Dex 14-ish, Con 10-ish int 15-ish, Wis 16-ish, Cha 15-ish. As far as spells, I'm torn between the nature-based spells of the druid, and the spontaneous and more prankworthy spells of a sorcerer. I'd probably give them sorcerer spells along with some spell-like abilities from the druid list, or a couple domains to pick from. If your players get into a combat situation with/near the critter and you want it to play a part, use the stats for a half-fey/feytouched pseudodragon until something better comes along; though personally, I'd just have it cast blink, improved invis, and ventriloquism, and distract/disturb the attackers with glitterdust, magic mouth, faerie fire, suggestions and various illusions (depending in which of these spells you elect to give it) http://www.stormy.net/fantasy/ma-rbdragon.jpg |

It is more of a fey-pseudo dragon (which is pretty cool btw, love the book). so be warned, the majority of the conversions are pretty straight up (and excellent) ... some were changed to better fit their (authors) image. it's a worthy addition to your game, unless you're into doing all those conversions by yourself. |
