So since it's March and March is Fey month, I thought it would be nice to redo this.

Faerie Dragons are a rare subspecies of Dragons. Their appearance is identical to that of a miniature dragon of indeterminate species. Their scales are whatever color suits their mood, and they feel no particular ties to any of the metallic or chromatic draconic species. The closest thing to an organization that Faerie Dragons have is that they are members of the Seelie and Unseelie Courts, but they tend to avoid all groups and classifications.
Faerie Dragons can eat almost anything, but their favorite foods are sweets and pastries, specifically apple pie.

Musical Talent: Faerie Dragons have class features and spells as bards of the noted level, and a Faerie Dragon can make level checks instead of Perform checks to use her class features without any instrument other than her voice.
Spell-like Abilities: A Faerie Dragon has the following abilities based on age category:
Age Spell-like Abilities
Wyrmling Detect Magic (at will)
Very young Faerie Fire (at will)
Young Wish (1/day, no XP cost)
Juvenile Animate Object (3/day)
Young adult Fascinate (3/day)
Adult Charm Person (3/day)
Mature adult Minor Creation (3/day)
Old Polymorph (3/day, self only)
Very old Polymorph (1/day, other only)
Ancient Polymorph Any Object (1/day)
Wyrm Major Creation (1/day)
Great wyrm Geas/Quest (1/day)
These use the Faerie Dragon's granted Bard Level to determine caster level. The DCs are based on the Bardic versions of spells that are from multiple classes.
Breath Weapon: The Faerie Dragon's breath weapon is a cloud of euphoric gas that causes creatures who inhale it to sleep (Will DC 15 + 1/2 Faerie Dragon's HD). It is a 90 degree cone that goes out 5' for every Hit Die.
Fey Blood: Faerie Dragons are considered to be fey for the use of magic items.
Scent: Faerie Dragons have the Scent ability.

Faerie Dragons have the normal attacks for dragons of their size, but they avoid melee combat at all costs.

Faerie Dragons have all the class skills that other dragons do. They usually
take fey feats (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/fey/20030815a) and learn fey spells (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/fey/20031010a).

Don't they have butterfly wings? I can't remember offhand but I think the one in Darkwalker on Moonshae did. Also he had huge amounts of illusion magic. Major image at will I would have though by the description. I might start them at fine and not go above small size though, a medium farie dragon just seems wrong.

The Faerie Dragon already appeared in the Draconomicon. And yes, they have Butterfly wings.

Overall, I'd say your version of the Faerie Dragon is interesting, but it should advance in size more. Just because it's Fae doesn't mean it has to be little. Consider pegging its max size as either Large or even Huge, and have it spend less time as each size.

I just don't think that there should be Tiny Dragons with 11 HD.

But other than that, it's cool.

This is a conversion of the non-stupid Faerie Dragon from 2e.

To the Original Poster: When you put BAB, you put the Base Attack Bonus, not the modified one. Otherwise, people will add the modifiers twice.

But you do it for the saves? Bleah. Well, it's been a while since I looked at the MM.

That's because the dragon's attacks may have different modifiers; in the usual case, every attack after its bite is going to be at -5 because they're secondary natural weapons. Or it could have used magic fang on its claws but not its bite, or it could even use manufactured weapons, or be in a polymorphed form.

In any case, um...the only thing I'd say is that I don't really think it's necessary to give it the ability to use its HD as a Perform check. It can take Perform (singing) if it wants, and since it's got bardic class features it'd have Perform as a class skill anyway.
