Does anyone else think that the picture of the Faerie Dragon in the Draconomicon really sucks? I liked the 2nd ed. one better. Also, I wanted to know if anyone else has ever used one of these guys in a campaign. I have, although the encounter was dictated more by my own whim than by what the book says they can do. My players were trekking through an area of the forest that they knew to be occupied mostly by Fey. After a couple of hours the Ranger noticed some tracks. Their own. Then they heard some giggling in the bushes, after exploring the bushes for a bit, two faerie dragons swung down from a low-hanging branch, hanging upside-down like opossums. After chatting with the cheery buggers for awhile they asked if they could continue forward. The wizard in the party was very good-natured towards them and laughed at their jokes. They responded with "I like you, you can have your wand back" At which point he failed a Will save, and indeed, the faerie dragon had his wand and handed it to him. My player was vastly amused by this. (In case you can't tell, the creature hadn't taken his wand until he mentioned it). Many session later, they were passing through that area again and encountered them again, this time in the company of a satyr. One of the characters (the rogue this time), asked if the faeries would allow them all to pass through the area quickly, as they were on urgent business that would benefit the whole forest. The Faerie Dragon responded with "Only if you pull up your pants". The rogue, however, made his Will save, and his pants were not down. This made the faerie dragon sad. My players enjoyed meeting these creatures, and I think enjoyed it more b/c I wasn't just reading it's powers off a book. Any other faerie dragon stories?
