Also, I'm not certain if this belongs here or in the magic thread, but I wanted to get the community's take on this: 1: Regeneration changes all damage (barring specified origins\types) into Subdual damage, which heals at a specified rate per round. 2: Fast Healing heals Subdual\Non-Lethal damage first, if any exists, then applies the remaining healing per round to Lethal damage. If you have a creature with Fast Healing, then cast a spell that provides Monstr-type regeneration ot it, do they overlap or stack? That is, if you have Fast Healing 10, and then acquire Regeneration 4, and take damage which regeneration changes into non-lethal damage, do you heal 14 points per round or 10? Lets say that you had a really bad round, and have taken 13 points of non-lethal damage, and 15 points of lethal damage. On the start of your round, what happens? There are several options as I see it: Option 1: Regeneration happens first. Regeneration takes care of 4 of your non-lethal, then fast-healing fixes the remaining 9, and 1 Lethal as well. Option 2: Fast Healing happens first. Fast Healing takes care of 10 of the non-lethal, regeneration heals the remaining 3, and none of the Lethal damage is healed until the next round when, if you have taken no more non-lethal damage, Fast-healing begins to apply to your Lethal damage. Option 3: Fast-healing overlaps with Regneration. As they are both "healing" of one variety or another, they do not stack, and all regeneration is doing then is converting some damage to non-lethal, and Fast Healing (as the larger value) takes care of the rest. Opinions? |

So for example troll with regeneration 5/fire or acid and that has somehow aquired fast healing 5. It takes in one round 4 fire damage from flaming weapon and 8 damage from a sword slash. Now he has taken 8 points non-leathal and 4 points leathal damage. Regeneration applies first, because it works only for one type of damage (non-leathal) and heals 5 points of damage from the sword slash. Then apply the fast healing that now heals the rest 3 points of non-leathal and then 2 points of leathal fire damage. |
