| Abaneth Goodsword10-01-03, 01:51 PM | I like the goblinoids. How bout you? |
| The White Sorcerer10-01-03, 02:06 PM | Orcs. All dragons. |
| ieattrollsforbreakfast10-01-03, 02:54 PM | I bet you can guess what mine is :D (Troll if you can't) |
| ConfusedUs10-01-03, 03:43 PM | Any of the weird monsters like gibbering mouthers, chaos beasts, or oozes. If its slimy, I love it. I also love Fang dragons. Nasty creatures. |
| ieattrollsforbreakfast10-01-03, 03:49 PM | If I had to leave out trolls....it would probably be.... Behirs! |
| RhoxandRoll10-01-03, 03:53 PM | Nereids!!! |
| ieattrollsforbreakfast10-01-03, 03:57 PM | Nereids....that doesn't ring a bell... are they in FF, MM3.0 or MM2? |
| Edymnion10-01-03, 04:14 PM | Tabaxi, D&D's official cat-people race. Can be found in the 2e MM, or in 3e's Tome of Horrors (along with lots of other great 2e monsters). |
| Ferat10-01-03, 04:58 PM | Vampires.... Liches... or Death Knights...... lol, most of the undead creatures, as long as they have intelligence... |
| Dr_Draco10-01-03, 05:05 PM | It's a tie: Beholders and Githyanki. Though I also have a special place for Hamaguans and Alethians, since I worked on the two of those http://www.geocities.com/customsmiliesbyswordmaster/beholdsmile.txt. http://www.geocities.com/flammabledragon/psion.TXT Dr. D |
| Penterghast10-01-03, 06:03 PM | I like Displacer Beasts alot, but only the 2e Monstrous Manual version for the pic. I mean, the MM 3.5 doesnt even have black fur, let alone a muscular form (though that isnt quite so necessary) or green eyes, which are all in the description for it. I also enjoy using Minotaurs. And Goblins. And Beholders. And Gnolls.... at one point in time I had a list of my favorite monsters, and it was about 4 or 5 pages... |
| R.M.G.C.L.F.10-01-03, 06:43 PM | Gibbering Mouthers! I love the twisted kafka-esque warped appearance, I love the oodles of special abilities, I love the fact that it has alignment: usually neutral thereby bringing up all sorts of crazy possibilities, I love its kooky confusion-inducing gibbering attack, I love everything about it (except I don't like some of the 3.5 changes). |
| RhoxandRoll10-01-03, 06:51 PM | Originally posted by ieattrollsforbreakfast Nereids....that doesn't ring a bell... are they in FF, MM3.0 or MM2? None. They are old monsters that are converted at the Creature Catalog, ieattrollsforbreakfast (it's fun typing out your name...). My love of them started way back in 2nd edition. |
| Kain Darkwind10-01-03, 07:29 PM | Devils. In particular the unique ones. After which comes Erinyes and Cornugons. I also am very fond of bugbears. Don't ask me why. I nicknamed a little 3yr old kid who stole my heart Bugbear. The name is just too cool. (Or course, maybe it comes from the fact that my first Dungeons and Dragons combat ever was against a lizardman bugbear who was really a gnoll.) |
| Xixt41210-01-03, 07:43 PM | Gelatinous cubes. Definately gelatinous cubes. |
| Incenjucar10-01-03, 07:46 PM | Tabaxi, Yuan-Ti, Lizard Folk, in that order. I might like Yuan-Ti first and foremost, but they're not perfectly in-sync with my vision of a serpentine race. That tabaxi weren't in the 3e MM simply hurts my head. |
| Shemeska the Marauder10-01-03, 07:54 PM | Yugoloths. Bow before them. Especially me, lots of bowing and servitude and attention. Those with problems with attention lusting Arcanaloths can speak up now. :mage: |
| Gez10-02-03, 03:19 AM | For those who listed the Tabaxi... There's a catfolk race in the Mini Handbook (see here (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=107905)) but I'm not sure whether are Tabaxi, Rakasta, or something new. Me? I like the classics: sphinxes & dragons (dragonnes and other draconnic creatures too) for monsters, goblins & kobolds for humanoids. As "exotic" critters, beholders, ethergaunts, and mind-flayers. |
| Linthar10-02-03, 09:41 AM | Kobolds. Can't forget the Kobolds. |
| Troubled Jester10-02-03, 09:46 AM | GNOLLS! I love them gnolls. |
| bjorntfh10-02-03, 10:21 AM | Bladelings! Give 'em a hug! ... No ... wait. Don't. (If you don't know what they are, think humanoid razor blades. Wrapped in razorwire. With glowing blue/violet eyes.) |
| Mercurius10-02-03, 11:03 AM | Big fan of the cute little evil kitties. I mean, Displacer Beasts. Though they're not quite chaotic enough to be real cats. Plus, that displacement thing is the great equalizer. +1 to hit, +20 to hit. Doesn't matter, does it? That's sweet. Additionally, I like any moderately intelligent, low CR monster with class levels. The first time my players ran up against orcs, and one was a fighter, one was a cleric, one was a sorceror. Man, priceless. Finally, anything really, really wierd can be fun. Gibbering Mouthers, Chaos Beasts, Pseudonatural creatures. Man, that's fun stuff. I get in a Call of Cthulu mood just thinking about them. :88E: Least favorite, by the way, would absolutely be Drow. Just dumb, stupid evil elves whose society should have imploded centuries ago. :nonono: :nonono: :headexplo For non-enemies, btw, I really like Dryads. Especially DiTerlizzi dryads (2e) or the 3.5 MM dryads. |
| Aeolius10-02-03, 11:26 AM | hags, aquatic creatures, and flumphs! |
| Evil's Pawn10-02-03, 05:46 PM | Black Dragons. |
| ConfusedUs10-02-03, 05:56 PM | I like beholders and mind flayers too. ;) :behold: :88E: |
| JellyFishBrains10-02-03, 06:58 PM | the pech |
| Master_of_Sarcasm10-02-03, 07:50 PM | Wow, talk about your hard decisions here...I have numerous favorites: I love the Mind Flayers because they are, well, malicious, controlling, weird-looking psionic things that just might conquer the universe one day (never hurts to be on the winning side...). I love the Rakshasa...and I don't know why. I suppose there's some apeal to the big, evil, humanoid-tiger that appeals to me. I've always wanted to have a party fight one, but when I DM, I never seem able to fit one in... I love the gnolls. Again, don't know why. I've never stopped to figure out what's appealing about those destructive hyenas, nor do I plan to. I accept my love as a fact, no questions asked. I both love and loathe the drow. I love putting PCs against them, because there is always an immediate hatred AND admiration from my players when they fight one. I love them as NPCs, but I have never had any desire to actually play one as a PC...strange... There's a special place in my heart for the Treant, too. I recently killed off an annoying PC with a Treant. The PC sealed his own fate when he angered the "tree" by hitting it with his...morningstar, of all weapons. Have you ever seen a rampaging, charging Treant flatten a firebug elven cleric before? Neither had I until then... I'm probably forgetting something, but it doesn't matter. The list could be longer, but I don't feel like typing out the whole MM in order of how much I like each creature. |
| Cli' San Aquanova10-02-03, 09:16 PM | Water Genasi. A living incarnation of water, the cool traits they can have, and I just absolutely love them. A pity there isn't that much info about them. Undoubtably my favorite race or creature. Merfolk. When you think of mythological water creatures, the Mermaid is first to come to mind. Their tridents, heavy crossbows, and way of life are interesting enough for me to like them alot. Sirines. A humanoid aquatic fey that's beautiful? And it's not evil!? Sold!!! http://www.geocities.com/flammabledragon/mermanalright.TXT |
| Shemeska the Marauder10-02-03, 10:06 PM | You might want to check out the 2e Planescape, 'Planewalker's Handbook' for more info on water genasi, as while I'm not certain about it, the 'Guide to the Inner Planes' also in the Planescape line, might have more info on them as well. |
| Incenjucar10-02-03, 11:49 PM | Those are -not- tabaxi. Tabaxi are 1) Pantherine. They're either jaguar- or leopard-based, depending on group. 2) Not human-faced. Their muzzles are, outwardly, almost identicle to the feline their based on 3) Not digigrade. As cool as digigrade is, they have human-like leg structures. |
| Mr.Waesel10-03-03, 12:14 PM | anything with 3+ templates. |
| ieattrollsforbreakfast10-03-03, 01:35 PM | Templates are great! Its especially fun when your half fiend half-illithid becomes a lich :D |
| Aeolius10-03-03, 01:38 PM | Originally posted by Cli' San Aquanova [B] Water Genasi....Merfolk...Sirines Sounds like you'd be right at home in my undersea campaign ;) One PC is a tiefling mermaid, a former PC was a water genasi, and there have been a few sirene NPCs in the past. |
| Cortez Carbon10-03-03, 01:43 PM | Vegepygmies! Yellow musk creeper zombies were cool too. I love it when a plant comes together... And, of course, the Gas Spore (well it looked like a beholder) Anyone know if these monsters are in any 3ed sourcebooks? |
| ieattrollsforbreakfast10-03-03, 01:47 PM | The Yellow Musk Creeper and their Zombies are in the Fiend Folio. |
| Dackad10-03-03, 03:41 PM | Originally posted by Cortez Carbon Vegepygmies! Yellow musk creeper zombies were cool too. I love it when a plant comes together... | Arilou_skiff10-03-03, 08:44 PM | Illithids! Illithids! Illithids! Illithids! Illithids! Illithids! Also, Baatezu are very cool. As are Genies. |
| Cli' San Aquanova10-03-03, 09:31 PM | Originally posted by Aeolius Sounds like you'd be right at home in my undersea campaign ;) One PC is a tiefling mermaid, a former PC was a water genasi, and there have been a few sirine NPCs in the past. Ooh, sounds like loads of fun. http://www.geocities.com/flammabledragon/mermangrin.TXT Yes, water has always been my favorite out of the 4 elements, and always will be. I love it!! http://www.geocities.com/flammabledragon/mermanalright.TXT Mermaids and Genasi and Sirines oh my! |
| Kyy'Dakh10-03-03, 09:54 PM | My favorites: 1. Anything resembling a furry, that includes gnolls, tabaxi, and other stuff like that. 2. Lizardfolk, yuan-ti, pterafolk (Monstrous Compendium). 3. Slaadi, ophidians (FF) , lycanthropes, marrashi (MM2?), bacchae (FF), wendigoes (FF). (See the theme there?) 4. Satyrs, fauns (Deities & Demigods), half-fey. 5. Energons, Aoa (FF?), Nyths (Monstrous Compendium) Least favorite types: Undead, drow, illithids. |

| OmniCrash10-04-03, 12:34 PM | Kythons! (From the Book of Vile Darkness) Just because they're cool. |
| Green Dragon3210-04-03, 05:34 PM | I love Lizardmen! Green Dragons and the Tarrasque! I just love that little guy.:D |
| bobothehobo810-04-03, 06:16 PM | Kobolds Mind Flayers Dragons Lizardfolk Thri-Kreen Kobolds Gnomes Harpies Dire Animals (Esp Rodents) Ogres Kobolds Most Undead Also gotta throw in a random freaky creature all the time Kobolds |
| kirellagen10-11-03, 04:24 PM | My favorite monster is the lich template:smirk: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ :OMG! Bobothehobo8, where did you get that name? I thought I INVENTED that name. Hmmmmmm.......... maybe my house is bugged.......:nonono: |

| rockfall2210-11-03, 05:31 PM | Advanced Kaiju Paragon Multiheaded Shadow Dragon of Legend. |
| bobothehobo810-11-03, 06:02 PM | Much off topic longwindedness! That's freaky about my (our?) name, kirellagen. I thought I invented it! I'm not going to claim I did, because this just further proves my theory that EVERYTHING has been done/thought of before. Thinking back to when I started using my SN, I first used it...........um..........around 1998. "bobothehobo" was the first part of an email adress I made, without the 8. The 8 was added around 2000, when I tried to use "bobothehobo" for something else and found it was taken, so I added the 8. Now "bobothehobo8" is my name for many things. It comes from my little sister's name for me when she first began to speak. I was brother, or "bobo". Who knows where that came from. She and my mother still call me it occasionally. Hobo comes from the fact that at the time of my names conception, hoboes were "cool" to me. Who knows where that came from. :D |
| kirellagen10-11-03, 08:32 PM | We'll split the copyright, kay?:heehee I thought of it for my e-mail address too. Kire |
| Xychotic10-12-03, 12:08 AM | I hate orcs. I don't like color coded dragons (old school video game RPGs anyone?). I don't like most celestials. I don't like xorn. I don't like tojanida. I don't like titans. I hate orcs. I hate orcs. I hate orcs. I like Mord Wraiths. I like Shadowen. I like humans. I like illithids. I like intellect devourers. I like lifeshape creations. I like shadowlands Oni. |
