Dick Dastardly 04-06-05, 01:04 PM	whats everyones favorite monster, either to fight or just which they think is the coolest. personally i like the shocker lizard, those little blue things always make me laugh and then zap me repeatedly.
Darkmeer 04-06-05, 03:32 PM	My personal favorite monster is pretty easy to figure out: Mind Flayer. NOTHING you ever throw at a player (including a Dragon) will cause a wider eyed reaction. I love it for the reaction I always see.

Big Tom 04-06-05, 08:30 PM	Monkeys. Or even better, 3HD Half-dragon monkeys. I just like monkeys, and I like Dragons. These little suckers, make me smile every time.

Icewraith 04-07-05, 12:15 AM	Bard or Sorcerer with Grease and Web. Fun on 1st-level parties. Not to cause DAMAGE, just for the annoyance! As for actual monsters, I love using Dragons, Giants, and Devils. Granted, this was a cold-based campaign (and one of my PCs bought Frostburn in the middle of it... the monsters got nastier after he did that). But what I'm most infamous for is the time a PC (about 13th level party) got a phone call and wandered off... I started rolling a D20 for every minute he was gone. When he finally returned I informed him of what I had been doing. When play resumed, four Elite-array Beholders (one for each fumble, plus a fifth that was creeping up on the party from behind) stormed out of a tunnel (the PCs had not encountered a beholder hive before, and thought it was just a really oddly constructed dungeon) and immediately attacked the player's monk for perfectly legitimate reasons (I forget what they were, but they were perfectly legitimate). He jumped down a hole, slow-falling against the wall, and three of the Beholders followed him down, eye rays a-blazing. (It was during this event the immortal words "you take three damage as the steel kitens you have been excreting during slow fall catch up with you" were uttered) The fourth attacked the other party members, who managed to deal with it. I gave him every chance against such powerful opponents, and if he had just kept on running (and used all the tricks in the monk's reportoire) he would have survived. But after reaching the bottom of the tunnel he tried to make a stand, and there are only so many times you can make a save vs. finger of death before you roll low. The other PCs fought intelligently and escaped. Everyone in the group now makes sure phone calls interrupt the session for a minimal amount of time, and if they forget... I casually mention beholders and they get the idea quite fast.

Khalarak Ironclaw 04-07-05, 09:55 AM	Any kind of fiend, but particularly the Shadowlands Oni from Rokugan. They always make me think of Inuyasha. And I'm thinking of adding a few extra abilities to fiends to make them a little more....fiendish...I might start a thread on that soon.
