| Lilt05-24-04, 08:16 AM | :bump: Nobody have any oppinions either way? Reading a bit more about it, I think it is possible, because the rapid shot feat has no restrictions on what weapons it can be used with (except for inherrent problems with actions for reloading crossbows). Natural weapons are forbidden from gaining extra attacks from high base attack bonuses, but rapid shot isn't a bonus from having a high base attack bonus so it's not forbidden. Does that seem right? |
| TieraStarr05-24-04, 09:59 AM | Rapid Shot shouldn't be too much of a problem, but you might need to strongly consider balance issues if you allow Manyshot with such attacks. |
| Gorfnod Wonderful05-24-04, 10:18 AM | I guess it all depends on the nature of the ranged attack. If they only can fire a set number per round, due to their ability to make say only three quills a round then rapid shot is not going to change this. However if this is not the case I think that it would be fine to take rapid shot. Other feats like precise shot, shot on the run, point blank shot and so forth I think are easily acceptable as choices for natural ranged attacks. I have to agree/disagree with TieraStarr on this one though. I think Manyshot could lead to a problem but only if it has to do with the creatures method of "firing". I don't really think this would cause any major problems balance wise though. Of course, DM has the last call since I've never actually seen this mentioned in a book before. Sounds fair though, take lvls of figther and get the focus and specialization feats too. Turns those little quills in to some bad***** weapons. |
| Lilt05-24-04, 10:48 AM | I didn't mention multishot because A: it only works with arrows by the description in the book, and B: Creatures don't get extra attacks with natural weapons for having higher base attack bonuses. I suppose they could still get the second attack but, AFAIK, no 3rd or 4th because I think that still counts as BAB-induced extra attacks. |
