| Allanon'sAvatar08-08-05, 12:56 AM | does anyone else think the feral template in th savage species book is too good to be just a +1 level adjustment? i mean +6 AC, +4 str,+2 con, +2 wis, +10ft to speed, impr.grab, pounce, rake, and rend, darkvision 120ft., fast healing 5, and 2 claw attacks, just for a +1 level adj. and -2 to dex and -4 to int..... |
| Arishem08-08-05, 01:16 AM | Of course it too powerful, even if you remove the special attacks and higher lvls of fast healing you get from using a base char/creature that has racial HD the other abilities alone are worth more than +1 |
| Shandrakor08-08-05, 01:30 AM | That's why we optimizers <3 it. If your DM feels it's not fully 3.5-compliant, then be a Mineral Warrior from Underdark. :D |
| Sildatorak08-08-05, 01:45 AM | The fast healing alone is worth more than a +1 LA. If you compare the anarchic template from PlHB to the celestial template it is pretty obvious. Anarchic: DR 5/magic at 12+ HD, energy resistance 5 across the board, immunity to polymorph and petrification, and fast healing 1 at 4 HD, 3 at 8 HD, and 5 at 12 HD Celestial: DR 5/magic at 4 HD, 10/magic at 12+, cold/electricity/acid resistance 5, spell resistance 5+HD The celestial creature has better DR and spell resistance (a highly useful ability), where the anarchic creature gets 2 extra resistances, a limited immunity, and fast healing at combat negligable amounts. Both have the same CR adjustment, but the celestial is LA +2 and the anarchic creature is LA +5. For continuing adventurers, fast healing is an amazingly powerful ability because it means that out of fight healing is something that is rarely needed, saving tons of resources for the group's cleric and anyone with healing potions/wands. |
