List has been edited.

I'm noticing two areas that haven't been covered:

Stationary Guardians (Perhaps a fiendish dryad/treant thing, or something akin to a roper)

Burrowers: Fiendish Umber Hulks must be very popular recruits.

Stationary Guardian: There is the Hellwarden in Legions of Hell. Not official D&D, of course, since published by Green Ronin.

You may wish to look at this (http://www.enworld.org/forums/showthread.php?t=52692).

Maybe you could tell what book they're from?

You missed the Water Lord. (Then again, it might be one of the other ones.)

1) I'm trying to keep to D&D products. If we go in to 3rd party, it can get very long, and very obscure.

2) I'm pretty sure that the wastrilith is the water lord.

Stationary Guardians:
Viper Trees (tanar'ri)
Maelephants (any)
Guardian Yugoloth's (any)

Viper trees are a very good point (and are, above all, my favorite sentient stationary entity), but I don't think they're actually tanar'ri.. I'll double check on it though.

The 'phants aren't true fiends, as I recall.. and I've no idea what the official statement on the guardian loths, considering they're something of a construct breed.

Perhaps a secondary list of "Non-Fiend Fiends" is in order?

I never meant Viper trees were tanar'ri, just used primarily by them.

*nods*

Gotcha. Basically just an overall statement that stationary guardians are created by fiends, rather than fiends themselves. Which makes sense, I suppose.

Now... are there any burrowing fiends I'm not noticing, or are fiendish umber hulks going to be highly prized?

If a guardian yugoloth is the same thing as the 'guardian daemon' from the Tome of Horrors, then it's not a fiend but a neutral non-'loth outsider.

Really? The FF didn't call the Wastrilith a Tanar'ri.
Gez

Wastriliths aren't Tanar'ri, indeed.

* Graps a pen and house-rule the 'lith back into tanar'riness*

See, I have my "baaluth," yugoloth, gehreleth, "tanarlith," and they must conform to their family. Only exception allowed being Bebilith, since I' decided it means "eater-of-lith".

By the way, has anyone noticed the Skulvyn can be summoned by another demon using "summon tanar'ri" and yet isn't a tanar'ri itself?
Incenjucar

Odd.

Wastriliths were tanar'ri in 2e, while shadow demons were simply 'shadow fiends', and had no race group to which they belonged.

could you, perhaps, put the source of the monsters behind it? Some of them sound cool, but I've no idea where they're from.

P.S: Call non-fiend fiends "quasi-fiends" that sounds all 2e-ey

Wastriliths had to be tanar'ri. They didn't use the name demon or devil back then.

2e sources. Molydeus and vipertrees, for example, have not been converted to 3rd edition yet. Some of them have been converted only in third-party products (like the Nupperibo). Others are spread between the two Monster Manuals, the Monster Compendium: Monsters of Faerūn, the Fiend Folio, the Book of Vile Darkness, and the Manual of the Planes, plus one in the Psionics Handbook.

MM
CE: Dretch, Quasit, Succubus, Bebilith, Vrock, Hezrou, Glabrezu, Nelfeshnee, Marilith, Balor, (revised MM only: Babau); LE: Lemure, Imp, Osyluth, Kyton, Bezekira (Hellcat), Barbazu, Erinyes, Hamatula, Cornugon, Gelugon, Pit Fiend.

MM2
CE: Abyssal Maw, Abyssal Skulker, Abyssal Ravager, Jovoc, Palrethee, Zovvut, Jarilith, Kelvezu; LE: Advespa, Amnizu, Malebranche, NE: Marraenoloth, Arcanoloth, Yagnoloth.

MC:MOF
CE: Abishai (Black, Blue, Green, Red, White), Ghour, Yochlol.

FF:
CE: Alkilith, Klurichir, Maurezhi, Myrmyxicus, Skulvyn, Wastrilith; LE: Paeliryon, Xerfilstyx; NE: Farastu, Kelubar, Shator; Piscoloth, Skeroloth.

MOTP
CE: Uridezu, Armanite, Goristro; LE: Spinagon, Narzugon; NE: Canoloth, Mezzoloth, Nycaloth, Ultroloth.

BOVD
CE: Mane, Rutterkin, Bar-Lgura, Babau, Shadow Demon, Chasme; LE: Kocrachon, Ghargatula.

PH
CE: Cerebrilith.

There are lots of other fiends, but I have listed only those that belong to one of the "devil, daemon, demodand, & demon" categories. Because otherwise, the list would be much longer.
