What is X?

What I want to do is replace the succubi's summon Vrock with summon Barghest pack, so ?d? Barghests is equivalent to one Vrock.

07-12-07, 12:38 AM IIRC, 4-5 barghests ~= 1 vrock. Encounter Level is not one of my specialties though, so maybe not.

07-12-07, 01:10 AM Before I answer, I should note that it would be very weird for a barghest (a being more of law than evil) to be summoned by a succubus (a being of incredible chaos as well as incredible evil). This would be about as weird as a gehreleth summoning an eladrin, a guardinal summoning a howler, or a yugoloth summoning an archon. Thus, a rather unusual bit of circumstance, or else a modification to the cosmology (switching barghests to be chaotic rather than lawful), is necessary before your change makes sense if you're using the Great Wheel and published critters.

According to the Encounter Level tables on page 49 of the DMG, 5-6 barghests equal one vrock equals 4 greater barghests.

If you want dice for it, then that's 1d4+3 barghests or 2d3 greater barghests.

I'm suprised they didn't give new summons in ECS, cause most succubi never heard of Vrocks.
