The reason I ask is because in the monster manual they are 10 but in the MMII, Fiend Folio, and even the new fiends in the MotP all have 20. Are these misprints or do the demons actually have different resistance numbers? |

I'd guess demons do get different resistances, same as their spell resistances change (even though there is a more understandable reason for varying SRs). |

It also covers any number of other creatures that live in Hell, the Abyss, Hades, Tartarus, or Ghenna. (arguably we could include Acheron and Pandemonium in there as well...) So it's kind of a broad category you're asking about. MMII, and the Manual of the Planes are both 3.0 books and energy resistances worked differently in 3.0, so they are higher. Fiend Folio came out between 3.0 and 3.5, so it's hard to say which standard they were using. Lastly, it depends on the CR of the monster. Lower CR creatures have energy resistances in the 5-point range, while higher CR monsters might go up to 15 or 20 or even 25. Uner 3.5 rules, a resistance higher than that is unusual. |
