Fiending for Answers [Archive] - Wizards Community

10-06-04, 04:51 AM This might be a stupid question, but the "fiend of..." prestige classes in the back of Fiend Folio are all considered to be associated classes for any fiend, right? Or do you have to make some arbitrary judgement about whether a particular class plays to a particular fiend's strengths when deciding whether they are associated or not?

Thanks for any help. I couldn't find a clear answer to this one in the books.

10-06-04, 10:37 AM Nominally any true fiend can take levels in those classes, but some of them will fit them more than others.

For instance the 'Fiend of Temptation' class would perfectly fit a Succubi, an Erinyes, a Glabrezu, an Arcanaloth, an Imp or Quasit. Others would fit it less simply from a flavor and fiendish ecology perspective.

10-06-04, 11:44 AM Yeah, but when it comes time to assign a CR, are those "fiend of.." class levels automatically considered to be associated (+1 to CR per class level) or are there cases where they would be considered non-associated (+1 to CR per 2 class levels)?
