Tattered wings stretch across its furred back, spreading an impressive ten feet. Its two arms are asymmetrical; one appears to be a normal monkey's furred hand, and the other is a massive, scaled blue arm, ending in a fearsome claw that would appear to weigh down a creature of its size. Below its black, beaded eyes rests a sharp beak. The same scaled blue skin covers the ends of its feet, with three-pronged talons resting lightly on the ground. Combat Verskings are regarded as abominations to their race. A hybrid of a vrock and a mundane monkey, many are revolted by the mysteries of its existence. A versking's natural weapons, as well as any weapons it wields, are treated as evil-aligned for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction. Spell-Like Abilities At will — mirror image. 1/day - teleport (self only). Caster level 6th. The save DCs are Charisma-based. Summon Demon (Sp) Once per day a versking can attempt to summon 1d3 dretches or another versking with a 35% chance of success. Whenever this ability fails, 1d6 monkeys are summoned in their place. They will follow the orders on the versking for one minute before wandering off in search off food. Any orders that would cause potential harm to the monkeys immediately releases them of the versking's control. This ability is the equivalent of a 3rd-level spell. Skills Verskings have a +4 racial bonus on Listen and Spot checks. |
| Athanatos08-25-06, 11:31 PM | 1) 2-3 feet is small, not tiny. Compare to a halfling. Your 10-foot wingspan definitely pushes you into Small territory. 2) Outsiders have d8 hit dice. HD should be 4d8+8 (26 hp). 3) Flat-footed AC is 15 (+2 Size, +3 Natural) 4) Attack bonus is +7 (+4 Base, +2 Size, +1 Strength). Bite attack bonus is +5, and so is talon (you forgot to list that one). 5) How often is it Neutral Evil? I assume Always, but please clarify. 6) What sort of demons does its Special Ability let it summon? And wouldn't CE demons be a bit reluctant to answer something that's NE? 6) Seems over-cr'd. Offensive capability isn't all that hot, given the unimpressive damage levels (Compare his 1d8+1, 5.5 average to a CR 5 troll's 1d6+6, 9.5 average damage). And besides his mirror image and damage reduction, his defensive abilities aren't much either. CR 4 seems more appropriate for the little fella. Generally, if you're going to give a monster more CR than he has HD, he better have a powerful ability. I don't see it here... unless he can summon some pretty nasty stuff. |
| the_grayest_mage08-25-06, 11:34 PM | If these guys are part demon and can summon demons, it seems they should be CE and maybe tanar'ri subtype. |

This one is just one I had saved in my archives, I really just wanted to see how the deck would look in a thread. But I will fix all of the newbie mistakes. |
| Korone08-25-06, 11:35 PM | Dbah Dbah Dbah .. .. .. Dbah. Yup, the new code is looking great. |
| Insane Pixie08-25-06, 11:43 PM | Sorry about all the errors. I usually save a monster twice; once when I first finish it, so I have it, and a second time when all the kinks are out. Guess which one I posted? As for the tan'nari thing, I'm not giving it a demon or devil subtype. I made this guy for an older thread, and it was supposed to just be a suped-up, kind of crazy quasi-half-fiend. Yup, the new code is looking great. I take it you're being sarcastic. Really, though, it looks greats for NPCs and monsters, IMHO. |
| Korone08-25-06, 11:46 PM | Actually, no, I wasn't sarcastic. |
| Insane Pixie08-25-06, 11:57 PM | Actually, no, I wasn't sarcastic. Sorry, my mistake. I thought you had called it useless. |
| Korone08-26-06, 12:00 AM | Oups, now that I look at it again.. it do sound a bit sarcastic. I added a word, making it more.. clear, I guess. And this 'quick reply' thing is great. And no more retarded 'You are leaving WotC website and etc..' !! Ok, gotta sleep a little... before I start saying anything. |
