Finetuning improved familiars ?! [Archive] - Wizards Community

At the moment I prepare a sorcerer for the next game. And I wanted to give him the improved familiar and as detailed in the complete warrior, a worg familiar.

Now a few questions came up while building the stat block of my worg:

- the worg, as detailed in the srd has 4HD, but in his stats (which are supposed to build on the base of 11,11,11,10,10,10) I can't find the single +1 bonus that would be granted at his 4th HD. Is this a mistake or did I miss something?

- the skill point total seem to be somewhat off. After removing all racial and ability modifiers, I count less than the 7 (4x1+1+1+1) skill points it should have in total. Another error or my fault?

- The improved familiars either use their own hitpoint total or the half of mine, whichever is better (as it is said in the imp familiar feat). Does "his" total increase with every hitdice it gains through my advancement? After reading the undead familiar from libris mortis its looks like that. Anybody got some more info on this point?

- Some worgs may speak common and or goblin. How can I decide if mine does? I guess this is the DM's vote?

- And one of the fellow players decided to play a ranger. Now he is able to teach a normal horse the ability to fight without fear as detailed under handle animal in the phb. Would this transform a normal 3HD heavy horse into a 4HD heavy warhorse? The description of both animals is somewhat unclear on this point. And even if he keeps the 3HD of his normal heavy horse, would he get better attacks as its not longer a non-aggressive animal?

so any ideas?
