Will the victim have to take 1d4 damage for each one of those hits each round or don't they stack? In another words, lets say the elemental slams the first round and does fire damage for 4 rounds. The next round he slams again and now that character take more fire damage for 4 rounds. Does that mean all that fire adds up each round? Just curious. |

So if I got hit and was going to burn for 3 rounds, I would burn for those 3 rounds even if I got hit again. If I got hit again, those would be on top of the other burns that are also happening. So some rounds you could effectively take fire damage 2 or 3 times each round. Round 1 - Get hit - burn for 3 rounds Round 1 - burn Round 2 - Get hit again - Burn 4 rounds Round 2 - Burn from round 1 attack Round 2 - Burn from round 2 attack Round 3 - Get hit again - burn for 4 rounds Round 3 - Burn from round 1 attack Round 3 - Burn from round 2 attack Round 3 - Burn from round 3 attack etc.. Is that how it works? I guess the next question would be "would it work for poisons and such too?" My guess is yes, it would and it does, correct? |

But I don't think you can say they stack. They overlap. I would also say that burning only takes place once per round, no matter how many 'intances' occur within the round. In the example, the character getting hit would burn for 6 rounds. Each round he takes damage from burning only once. Round 1 - Get hit - Burn for 3 rounds Round 1 - Burn (1/3) from round 1 attack Round 2 - Get hit again - Burn 4 rounds Round 2 - Burn (2/3) from round 1 attack Round 2 - Burn (1/4) from round 2 attack Round 3 - Get hit again - Burn for 4 rounds Round 3 - Burn (3/3) from round 1 attack Round 3 - Burn (2/4) from round 2 attack Round 3 - Burn (1/4) from round 3 attack Round 4 - Out of combat Round 4 - Burn (3/4) from round 2 attack Round 4 - Burn (2/4) from round 3 attack Round 5 - Out of combat Round 5 - Burn (4/4) from round 2 attack Round 5 - Burn (3/4) from round 3 attack Round 6 - Out of combat Round 6 - Burn (4/4) from round 3 attack |
